Really liked the solid block.
Thought about some paving stones one time... wanted to put my 5 gallon bucket of cement on one.
Found some 24"ers but couldn't get 'em into my car. :(
Never thought of screwing directly to one! That's brilliant.

The metal brackets are a spectacular find.
I'll have to go get a few of those.
Some of us'll have to try a few cheap LNBs on our Phase II and III dishes, with these brackets.

One nice thing on your side is that you didn't skimp on the LNB
That's a pretty good one you chose.

But, there's just one thing I have to complain about, z4ccamaro.
Who uses a name like that and then a train for an avatar?

Very nice! Ok, so now my question is: How do I figure out approximate settings for my location? The Satfinder program I have only does sats betw 60 and 160W, as far as I can tell...

Thanks

Thank's for the comments guys.

I was going to try to make a NPRM from angle iron and put blocks on top of it, But for a quick and easy "temporary" setup, I just screwed the mount to a solid concrete block. I only had one blow over once, and that was like 90 mph winds !

It worked well enough for me so far, and I will probably be moving in a year or two so I don't want plant any more poles than necessary. I've already got a 10', a 6', and a Pstar concreted in.

I've got mine in the landscape rocks behind my house. Just make sure the block is solid and level both ways. Makes setup a lot easier.

I had scanned this sat with a 76cm dish first and it worked great.
Then I wanted to use the 76 for another sat, but didn't have another dish for Hispasat. So I got to thinking I'll try it on an 18 til I get another bigger dish for it. Works pretty good for me anyway. I had another linear LNB anyway, so didn't cost anything to try except the clamp/brackets.

If you can't get it on an 18 to start with, you might want to try to scan it in on a bigger dish just to get an idea of the direction and channels that are stong for you.

I used to be a hugh railfan! I have thousands of slides and pics I took. Used to put a few hundred miles on every weekend chasing trains :)

Hmm, this thread makes me want to try it with my spare dish 500 since I can't hit it with my motorized setup.
