Comments from a newbie to FTA

If anybody wants any advice or suggestions on how to set something like this up, let me know. It's all mostly used parts from Ebay, with the exception of the V9 receivers.

I checked ebay and I was surprised that you can get this for a very reasonable price. I have no plans to get one though.

No. Using 3 here and they are all powered by the receiver.

no the bias-T is only needed if you use it with receiving equipment that does not have the ability to inject power (like when I use my SDR)

4162 H 1040 on 99 has a nice classical channel in the mux.

Pretty sure that's the C band version of WPR Classical on Ku now that i've listened to it some. Much more reliable for me on C band

Does it also have the "WPR Sounds" and "WPR Main" feeds in the mux?

Didn't check, and don't have access to my FTA system right now (if only Dad would let me install at his place...)

Interesting, it's almost like it's a national Classical feed, coulda swore it was the same programming when I switched back and forth. Maybe MPR and WPR just insert commentary?

Just FYI, the Octagon SF8008 v3 Supreme (from Rick's) can tune low symbol rates. With the dual tuners, I would say this receiver is a formidable competitor in the FTA market. Running KU on one tuner and C-band on the other. Current image (four slots) is TNAP 6.1. Credit and thanks to El Bandido for his help in getting this working.

Maybe a decent receiver will show up one day I'm not sure if it's kosher to discuss GTMedia receivers here, but I bought a V9 Prime about a year ago after a member at SatelliteGuys posted that he was tuning WPR with it. The unit is incredibly reliable when it comes to tuning low symbol rates...

These low SR feeds started to lock after I did a software update to TNAP 6.1 via the receiver menu earlier today. Not sure if the update made a difference or not.

According to my list, 12027.407 V 185 is Nevada Public Radio. I have been trying (without luck) to lock it.

Thanks for checking. Too bad the Rx doesn't lock it. I've been looking at getting one because of the low SR ability, but didn't want to spend the bucks without being certain.

Are we certain that feed is still there? The list I'm working from is almost 3 years old and I no longer have an SDR to confirm.

Yes. With a Bullseye feed I see it at 12027.925.

Doubt it will go away anytime soon. It's feeding about 14 stations and translators across rural Nevada and beyond. Some of the stations on 99w are feeding over twice that amount. Often on rural mountain tops that probably don't have fiber.
