first time set-up

Ok, I had my first test.

I found the 101W easily with the 8 foot dish, one single Directv LNB with dual outlet and a 10+ year old Directv receiver.
18 of 32 transponders locked with signals of 72 to 90.

Then I tried my HR22 subscription box which was prior activated. I connected the two LNB outlets, two BBCs but there was no signal for 101W at the receiver. Zero, Nada.
Shouldn't I at least get the 101W with the HR22 ?

Thanks

If you wanna go sd only for the time being hit menu the setup the repeat satellite setup. Select 18" odu and multi switch as your options then let it do its thing.

oh yeah . . . me stupid . . . I did not change the settings.
Thanks a lot.
Until I have figured out the complicated Ka band set-up I certainly like to watch SD.

first time set-up South of the border, 8 foot dish

My progress is slow.

I am using the Hawaii/Alaska Non-SWM Lnb DTVAHKAKUKIT for 99/101/103W on a 8 foot dish.

My selection:
Dish Type: 03: Slimline-3
Switch Type: 02: Multiswitch
Tuner: Dual
B-Band converter installed.

"Verifying configuration" . . . "A satellite signal could not be detected".

So I go into "Signal Strength" and it shows me that the signal comes in ok: 16 of 32 transponders (101W) with signals of 50 to 83.

Any advise ? thanks !

you are almost certainly pointed at the wrong satellite. 101 has 32 active transponders - there are a few spotbeams which you will not get, but you should see all the others. Just because the TPs are on the 101 screen does not mean they are coming from 101.

I could be pointed at another satellite. However, both receivers, a 15 year old D12-100 receiver and the new HR22 do get positive readings (currently with 17 of 32 transponders on 101W) but no signal on 99W and 103W.
I have never heard that a Directv receiver would read signals from a non Directv sat.

With so many transponder active, you are not aligned on 119 which is where I thought you might be. So exactly which TPs do you see signal from? Even if you are pointed at 101, the receiver will tell you "no signal" if the TPs it uses for start up are too low. Not sure which ones it uses, I know TP25 is where most of the firmware downloads come from. And if you are not aligned on 101, then 99c, 103ca and 103cb will show no signal at all.

TP 25 is working but I don't see anything. It gets stuck in "Verifying Configuration"
You can see in the picture which transponders are active.

He said if its too low it will keep saying that, 58 is too low

A D-12 isn't 15 years old

I had that D-12 already in 2001

that means that my foremost goal would be to tune up tp12 to over 60. Correct ?

I'd shoot for at least 70 to be honest. And if you had a D12 in 2001 that still is only 12 years but I don't think they've been around that long

TP25 on 71.
Still not getting any picture:
Verifying configuration . . . "A satellite signal could not be detected. Please check your installation and re-test"

TPs 4, 12, 18,20,26, 28 will be zero for you because they are spotbeams pointed at different US cities. This means you are missing TPs3, 7, 11, 14, 15, 19,23, 27 and 31. All those TPs should be the same signal strength as all the others. You won't get the receiver to operate correctly until you fix that.
I can't think of another satellite that would give you the same TP pattern so that means one of two things.
Your dish is still not aligned
Your dish is too small to get decent signals consistently across the range of TPs.
Your LNB is faulty (not very likely)

You are in Belize? People report OK reception on 101 with a 1.8m dish. Your dish is much smaller than that (1.2m).

A rehit?? That makes no sense, there is no such thing as a "rehit". If you mean a "refresh authorizations', that does not in any way affect the transponders you receive, only the channels that the receiver thinks you are subscribed to.

The minimum dish size here is 1.8 meter but I am using a 2.4 meter dish. The LNB (Hawaii/Alaska Slimline3) is designed for a 1.2 meter dish.

The receiver was authorized about 2 months ago. Even if the receiver has timed out due to inactivity, I still should get some test channel.
Anything I could do wrong in the set-up ?

Do you have a regular 101-only LNB? Try mounting that on the dish, and set up for 101 - we know you should be able to get all the 101 transponders in Belize.

Have you tried 01- 18" round dish with multiswitch and no BBC ??
Dont understand why not all transponders not coming in unless it has to do with focal point??
Just thinking
