I have had an HR20-100s for several years and it's grown pretty sluggish as the software upgrades

I'd like to upgrade to a newer receiver w/ better ?processing speed/ memory?

DTV says I have the most advanced setup short of the HMC, which they charge $399 even for out of contract customers

No hardware upgrades in the last several years??????

Thanks

call again and ask for a diff csr
mention cancellation, and get to retentions
then you should get a deal

I talked to customer retention and they won't deal w/ the HRM even tho I've been a customer since 1995 and out of contract for several years

They will send me a free HD DVR, but they say it's no different than my 5-7 year old one...
could that be right?

My question is about the hardware, not the negotiating

it could be the same model or anything up to an hr-24
they dont garuntee any model

some people have gotten the hmc from retention

Sorry, but we're going around in the wrong circles

I don't need an HMC. I only use it for 1 TV

I want a receiver more advanced than the relatively ancient unit I have and they seem to say they have no such thing

directv considers the HR20, HR21, HR22, HR23, HR24 all equal.
they will not garuntee any one over the other

ok, thanks
all equal??
Are they the same specs, just different manufacturers?
or are there differences between them

why would I spend $200 for a receiver they are giving for free??

Basically D* considers all HR20 to HR24 the same but they do have improved specs with the HR24 being the best.

If you get one from D* they are going to pick whatever model is next on the shelf and send it to you. The only way to guarantee you get an HR24 is to pay for one from a retailer.
