I have decided to add another 10 footer to the farm and run it with a H to H instead of an actuator. The H to H motors generally don't do well here in the Canadian winters. I am going to give it a try with the assistance of a heat tape.

I had this AJAX in storage which I removed from a dish and replaced with a Von Weise. As soon as it got cold, it wouldn't move.

Connected just the motor to a mover and the motor turns fine and counts.

My plan is to disassemble everything and remove all the old grease and crud. I will then get the housing sandblasted and give it a fresh coat of paint...

I did 4 AJAX systems that motor was initially made for the first cars that had electric motors, of course, it was made for 12 volts, not 36 volts only issue I had was the weather caused the brush holders on the motor to make them stick and not touch the commutator. I used WD-40 to fix them.

Thanks for posting that, I remember that thread.

I have 4 or 5 AJAK mounts and they are all different than the eBay dish mount in that the motor is enclosed in the plastic case, you can't see it, but they do look very similar besides that.

I do seem to remember some discussion of there being at least 2 different basic models of AJAK mounts though, a smaller and a bigger one.

Here's a pic of the one I adapted to a 1.8m Prodelin, as well as a couple pics of the master Pendragon's rig.

I had them welded to work with the Dishes I wanted to use. Yes, the plastic cover is always on them, the gears are a work of ART WOW

That person needs to learn what doing H-H elevation adjustment is different from a typical dish, and the "declination offset" must be played with to get a perfect job

I did it with a 12 foot with KU also just about had a nervous breakdown and it was on a flat roof too and after all that hard work in the damn hot sun its caused my right hip to finally cave in, so I had to wait 6 weeks to get working again only to find out the nightcub was not legal and the police had a massive sign on the front door I got screwed out over $2,500

This is quite the monster for $500 - especially when you see it integrated on a truck bed!

The marketing sheet from the listing explicitly mentions exceeding the early-80s, 2 degree separation regulation. The NTIA docs in the "Ku on prime focus" thread describe the radiation patterns required to conform. I found a technical report on that reflector.

Everyone else's mileage may vary.
