Can't anybody play this here game?
How times have changed. In years passed, when a no hitter or perfect game was closing in, you could tune to ESPN and other sports sources to see the coverage. Today, you couldn't even catch the final outs on the MLB Network! And they have partnered in with FOX for Saturday Baseball with in-game reports and coverage.
I don't know how much the fine is for a manager skipping out on a post game interview, but if I were Valentine, I'd just skip out and pay it.
I gotta tell ya, regardless of what that gasbag douche, Lance Berkman said about Marlins stadium:
It is a beautiful park. Like I said yesterday, Miami has NEVER been brick buildings and parks that "fit the neighborhood". Miami has always been about art decco and colorful. New and somewhat minimalist. When you see the monstrosity when a Marlin hits a home run, on video, you cringe... in person, you stare and say to yourself..."hmm..that seem sort of cool".
This is truly embarrassing! How do you lead 9-0 and blow it? Of course as a Yankee fan I'm enjoying it immensely, but still....
It may be a beautiful park, but that green is difficult to take.
While the Red Sox celebrated 100 years, it would have been 100 as well for Tiger stadium if it was still around, here is a nice article about a group of guys who try to maintain the field portion of the stadium that is no longer there

It is official now. I want to know why? It is not offense they need, it is pitching, particularly relieve pitching. So they trade relief to get more offense? And at his age, Byrd is not an upgrade from what they are currently platooning.ESPN.com reports that the Boston Red Sox are about to acquire Marlon Byrd from the Cubs in exchange for a lefthanded reliever, presumably a minor leaguer. Byrd is 34 and in the final year of a 3 year, $15 million contract and will fill in for Crawford and Ellsbury. I don't know the intracacies of the MLB luxury tax and soft cap, but one reason given for the Red Sox lack of interest in Oswald was that they absolutely had to stay under the cap for one season because doing so resets it and then puts them on a lower penalty track for the next few years and supposedly, the difference between qualifying for the cap reset and not doing so was going to make a difference of tens of millions of dollars. I'd like someone who understands the MLB cap to explain how they can take on Byrd's $6 million in remaining salary without jeopardizing their anticipated cap reset.
