I've spent the last few days trying to build my queue of movies in Dish Cinema/Platinum, fighting with the broadband connected/disconnected roulette(M-6-1-9-2) and had accumulated several movies in 'MY RENTALS', that is until a few hours ago. Now, after my nightly reboot, the damn thing is wiped clean.:mad::rant::mad::mad:

This is really starting to get on my nerves. I have less and less faith in this equipment every day. My 622 never had these issues.

Same with me. I spent 40 minutes the other night, and went through all 2,948 something movies. I picked 9 to download, and they were there waiting. Next day, there's only 3 left, the rest vanished. 2 of those left said they expired in 2002!, and I can't watch them. I am NOT amused, and I think I've had enough with messing with their so-called nearly useless VOD service.

Their dvd service is only good for 1 dvd per WEEK for me, as they can't seem to get them out to me without several days of screwing around, and then 3 days in the actual mail. They come so beat up looking, that it doesn't seem possible they would even play, but so far they have. My local warehouse is only about 130 miles away. Oh, and the local store closed a couple years ago.

Thank goodness I'm not paying anything above the regular price for Platinum, because it's not worth anything more as a service.

Those rentals are not actually gone; they just became invisible. You can see them on DO and watch them on DRA, including mobile clients.

I want to apologize for this frustration and let you know that it is a known issue that is being worked on and will be corrected with a future software update.

I am just going to unplug my wireless adapter for a month or so and hope they get the bugs out......it is not at all worth the additional aggravation and frustration...and I'm getting more than a little tired of YEARS of audio drops...

I don't like the fact that any rentals I download disappear after the reboot but stay on my hard drive using up space. I can't even access them to delete them. I confirms this by checking on DISH ONLINE and they show as recordings there ,but you can't play them or delete them. But on my receiver they don't show. I deleted everything on my receiver and I get 38 hours of hd on my 722k. So this means they are still on my hard drive but non accessible to me. I hope the next software update will fix this. I hate losing over 15 hours of my hard drive to these downloads I can't even delete.

Try DRA. I was at least able to play them there. Didn't try deleting them though.

Can somebody from the DIRT team please let me know how to delete 22 titles that have disappeared from "My Rentals" and are viewable on Dish Online? This is taking up space on my DVR (I have had titles deleted I did not want deleted, but I do not want to focus on that) and I suspect it is not letting my download any additional titles either due to lack of DVR space or a clog in the pipeline. I used this service succesfully for about 3 days, then one morning I woke up and all the titles were gone (shouldn't be news). These show up on DRA, but only under one title as IPVOD, when I hit delete it says unknown error. I do not see a delete button on dish online and if I hit play I receive an error message. I really want these deleted. Resets do not fix this--will pulling the plug for 5 minutes?

No, pulling the plug will not fix this issue. Only a firmware update will fix it, and apparently (for me) L721 didn't fix it.

Every time I tried to play them a message would pop up saying the software didn't allow the vods to be played on dish online.
That's what happens on DO. but on DRA you can actually play them without a problem (in my case). Now barco13 just reported that you can't delete them on DRA either. :( I just verified this bad news.

I'm giving my kids, ages 4,5 & 7, the 800 number so somebody can speak with them about Disney prep and landing, a very shrek Xmas, etc that was deleted off our dvr. ;)
On a serious note, really hoping this gets resolved soon, but I take comfort in knowing others are experiencing same issues.

DOD rentals

OK I've been dealing with this problem for 10 months I am an EXPERT.Your rentals are NOT being erased they are hiding in your dvr.Go to dish online and look at your DVR you will see all your missing rentals and they are using up memory. The only way I have been able to get them back is a real complicated process.I first transfer a few titles from internal drive to external drive(I don't know what to do if you don't have an ex hdd)maybe erase a few you don't want anymore. While the transfer is in process go to dish online and keep refreshing your DVR info. After transfer unplug receiver for 10 seconds or so.while it's rebooting keep refreshing DVR online. When tv comes back on the lost rentals should be restored. This sounds crazy and it probably is but this process has restored my lost rentals at least 6 times.I have tried reseting alone & unplugging alone. The only way I have found after 10 months of experimenting is the process decribed above.Every time is "hides" your rentals it uses up DVR memory. The people at DishNet think I'm crazy but that is besides the point.I think they are crazy.Good Luck to all of you, your gonna need it.

Stopping a download in process.

BTW, to delete a rental that is still downloading unplug ethernet plug go to title in my rentals and it will give you the option to delete. Get rid of it and plug internet back. All gone. I don't think the "brains " at DishNet know that trick!!!

I don't understand. You transfer non-rentals to the EHD for no apparent reason, and then you unplug your receiver, and then you plug it back in again and refresh on DishOnline like crazy, and then your rentals show up on your DVR? That is crazy!

DishNet sent a "new" receiver to fix the rental problem about 5 months ago. When I transfered all my recordings from DVR to XHDD I was missing about 10 HD hours on an empty DVR.That's when I went to dish online and noticed 20-25 rentals that were in limbo in the DVR.After a hard reset the rentals made a comeback there were double and triple titles. When it happened again I realized that I didn't have to empty the DVR just transfer a few recordingsBefore 5 months ago if I had rentals I would set the daily update to a time when I could stop it.The daily update was messing up the rentals. So if you have rentals and you don't want to lose them STOP the daily update. But as I found out a power failure or if there is a system wide software update it will reset itself.Your right Krell it's crazy I got NO help from reps at Dish. I had to figure all this crap out myself.Like I said I don't know what to do if you don't have a XHDD.Could be just erasing a few recordings might do it.I have no idea what refreshing my DVR at dish online is doing. All I know is it works. Some people out there might have hours and hours of "missing" DVR time.Plus I have no idea what other problems this might cause. Good Luck :coffee JOE

Like me! I have hours of "test" rentals that I have never even seen. They are stuck there taking up space but otherwise invisible on the receiver.

If you get them back and you have doubles the system WILL reboot when you delete them.Single titles OK but doubles or triples, OMG!!! What a pain in the ass!!! Try my fix and good luck.Let me know if I can help, no sense in you pulling your hair out too LOL!!!!

Another big problem is it will only take 1 or 2 out of many rentals and you just don't notice it.You have to go to dish online and count to see how many your really missing.Like I said a REAL pain in the rear end.Whenever you delete something it will show up in history on the my recordings page.

HAHAHA , sorry for my lack of faith but 8 months ago I was a NUT now it's a "known" issue HAHAHA don't hold your breath!!!
