New HD Channels on DTV???

DirecTV announced back in May that we'd get ESPNU HD by March 31.

However that was BEFORE all the delays of the launch of D12 so it'll probably be later.
I haven't heard anything about E!
DirecTV hasn't said peep about would be added on D12 for new national HD channels. Guess we'll all be surprised one morning when we notice some new channels.
From what I hear about TruHD, you probably rather watch the SD station anyway. Nothing is shown in HD. All programming is upconverted and stretched SD.
I saw where Dish was carrying TruTV in HD, but if all it is, is an upconverted stretch, I agee -- big whoop.
I was just going by what people on this thread have stated.

Looks like Directv is going to use the new sat to expand its HD PPV channels and its PPV offerings to 500 movies. Just like D11 we only got a hand full of HD channels looks like this sat will be a disapportment also.
IIRC, D10's role was nationals, which Directv did well on, and D11 was locals. D12 is nationals as well as other things.
No offense, nor is this directed at you, but this has been discussed over and over AND been shown to be totally false.
First, even if they were to devote all of D12 for PPV channels, it alone would not be enough for 500 movies.
Second, nowhere does it say anything about PPV channels. The quote specifically mentioned movie titles. These titles will be mostly broadcast through VOD, which does not use any bird space or channels. It is all done via broadband download to your DVR.
Third, D11 was announce well ahead of time that IT WOULD be used mostly to convert mpeg2 to mpeg 4, LIL, AND PPV. There was no announcement of sort for D10 nor D12.
Fourth, Direct has already announced that D12 will be used to expand it HD channels to over 200
Fifth, the CCRs, Direct, Stonecold, and Satracer have already announced a list of channels that WILL become available after it goes live.
^^ Not to mention those channels that they listed are just the one's that we know about. There is probably more but just kept underwrapped.

Just read the newsletter that comes with my bill and it says D12 will be used for more HD premiums and more PPV.
