talking about lucky... A friend just gave me a 12ft mesh dish and another friend gave me a pansat 2700a and a dishnetwork superdish. My dad has an old analog receiver that he was about to throw away and I also have it. Now , what do you guys recommend for me to do with this stuff? I have read soooooooo much on here that I am seeing double and now have a headache. Really would like some suggestions on how to put this all together and make it work.

C-band:
1) does the 12' dish have a working LNB on it?
2) does the 12' dish have a polar mount with a motor on it?
3) I think you might get the analog receiver to move the dish and tweak the LNB
4) I'd think with the 2700, you'd pretty much be in business for everything else
5) you just need the pieces to hook it all together.

Ku band:
6) the 2700 is fine for that
7) there are some threads about the effort of using the SuperDish
8) you can get that dish to work, but might want a different LNB on it (or not)
9) if you want to motorize, you'd need a motor and some information on mounting and alignment

The pieces to hook either setup together consist of cables, switches, connectors, and such.

Here is an easy list for what's on Ku band.
Here're lists for Ku, and C-band stations.

I'd start out on Ku, just 'cause the stuff is smaller.
No shame in starting with a fixed dish on one bird.
It'll help you get your footing.
Later, you can bring up more of your equipment.
I would do it in stages, progressively.

Yes, it does have a working LNB,and has a polar mount with motor attached.
Thanks for the reply . I am going to take your advise on starting small. The superdish that was given to me has 3 LNB's on it. One is a dishpro - looks like one you can find a your local wal-mart, has the round, white frosted cover on the end, one says...FSS stacked LNB and has a clear plastic cover on it where you can see down inside, and the last one says DBS stacked LNB and has a point on the end.
