NFL Sunday Ticket 2014/2015 Season - Discuss Pricing/Discounts/Offers

I recently received my bill that had a $59 and change charge for ST Max, so I phoned in to cancel. But I was actually hoping they would shoot back with a good offer. The guy just said ok and cancelled it out. Funny thing is I really don't care now. I may call back before the season starts and see if they can knock my socks off with another good deal as I've received in previous years. But if they don't, I'll go without it this year. My team is local anyway, I just like the option to get better games in the other time slots. Oh well.

Update: Just called them today. Used the "check contract end date" when asked the reason for my call (which I assume got me through to retention).

I got a nice southern lady who asked how she could help me, I explained I wanted to check my contract end date because I just cancelled the NFL ST the other day and now I'm going to compare what the competitors have to offer. Then we got to talking sports and she came at me with the NFL ST Max for half price. I asked if that was the best they could do, she checked and came back with NFL ST (not Max) for free. I did have to agree to a 1 year contract extension for this deal. But I figured it was worth it.

I got regular ST free a couple of years ago, I think last year I got Max around half off.

Thanks for the threads here on this subject, they come in handy.

Called both today for myself and my dads accounts. Dad with DTV since 2000, me since 2008. Both have received ST for free last 4 yrs. and have $25 monthly credits and under contract til November. Went cancellation route with both. Best offer for dads account was half off max ($164). Was a girl and was little negotiating.

Had better luck with my account. Got a chatty guy this time. He asked if he could look into any offers that would make me stay. 1st offer was free Red Zone and ST with 1 yr contract. Other was Max for $164 and a $200 Visa gift card with 1 yr contract. I was stunned. I would have taken offer 1 for sure, but offer 2 was too good to pass on. This was my 3rd call over 3 weeks. Best previous offer was 1/2 off max.

They called my bluff (so far). I called to cancel the Ticket (been with them about 15 years), and the rep said ok. While processing, he gave me $10/mo discount on HBO and Showtime, but he did process the cancellation. I fully expect to receive a call from "Ken's" boss within a week with a better offer. Worst case scenario, I can re-join before the season starts.

Just be honest with the retention department like I was. Tell them you want ST max but don't want to pay full price. Emphasize how loyal of a customer you have been over the years. Good luck.

I need to do this myself. So how much total are you paying for it?

ST Max $163 (one payment).......but keep in mind that I talked to first level customer service three times before and their offers where not worth it. I simply asked retentions when my contract was up and that started the dialogue.

That's funny. This must be a common practice, because I called about a month ago ready to cancel and the rep asked me if I was an NFL fan and then offered me the same options.
Option 1: Sunday Ticket for free
Option 2: Sunday Ticket Max for half price.

I ended up taking the free Sunday Ticket offer. There must be an insane amount of markup in their services for them to just give it away this much.

Yup !

Directv customer for almost 5 years. Called today just to ask about any possible credits since all my others had expired. Talked to a real nice lady in retentions. Ended up with $20 a month credit for 12 months, NFL Sunday Ticket Max free, sports pack free for a month, and Showtime free for 4 months. Satisified customer.

Congrats!! :)

Just had a real good session with a retention specialist. First, I got ST Max for half off ($163.96) in 4 equal payments. They then paid the first installation for me with a $50 credit. I then got another $10 off HBO and Showtime for 6 months (total of $20 off a month). I then got $10 Advance Receiver fees waived for next 12 months. Also received $20 off of my XTRA Choice package for next 12 months. Finally, they are doing an in-house upgrade of all my receivers next week for no service charge. Overall, I think they hooked me up pretty nicely. I am more than satisfied! :)

Wow, I guess !!!

Just got off the Phone. Spent about 40 minutes bouncing around between Billing, Promotions and Retention departments. In the end I got a billing credit for 12 months at $10 per month, another $2.50 per month for 6 months, Showtime Free for 3 months, and the NFL Sunday Ticket for free for the season. The NFL Ticket was in exchange for a 12 month contract extension.
