NHL 2013 Season

Nice win for the Kings over Colorado today! They are (as of this moment) in sole posession of 8th place in the West, so they can officially be considered contenders. They are playing well and finally coming to life. PLUS, they are bout to have anice long homestand. These next 2 weeks will be very telling to see where the Champs will be standing-wise.

I read that too...
Piss poor timing if you ask me.

Wait till thier team stinks. They may not even make the Playoffs this year for the 1st time in ages, 20 years I think.
Wait till they have junk and then change leagues.

This should have happened 10 years ago.

You could always start a petition to have them stay out west. ;)

The National Hockey League’s plan for realignment would shrink the league’s six divisions to four and add playoff wild-card spots for the playoffs, reports ESPN.com. (http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/8...ld-cards-drops-league-4-divisions-source-says) The report says that the NHL sent a memo to all 30 teams on Tuesday. The new setup would have divisional instead of conference playoffs. Each division winner with the most points in the regular season would play the lowest-seeded wild card team in the 1st round, and the other division winner plays the other wild-card. Here is how the conferences would stack up. The plan must be approved by the league’s board of governors. The Eastern Conference would feature the Atlantic and Central divisions while the Western Conference would have the Mid-West and Pacific divisions. The Pacific Division would feature Anaheim, Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Jose and Vancouver. The Mid-West: Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis and Winnipeg. The Central: Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Toronto. The Atlantic: Carolina, Columbus, New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington.

Yeah, nothing screams "central" as Boston, Montreal, Florida (Miami), and when I think of Atlantic (ocean), I think of Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh.

The real joke is the unbalanced conferences, 16 east, 14 west.

Florida had to dress there goalie coach as their backup goalie for the 1st period because the backup they call up his hockey equipment didn't show up in time

Thoughts and prayers go out to Marc Stall after that viscious puck to the eye he took last night. Scary and sickening to watch. Rumors abound as to his condition. One is that he was NOT taken to the hospital! Weird. Let the mandatory visor rule debate once again begin!

There is too much focus on the Staal injury for them not to let the public know. This is getting huge press re: the visor issue.

I was n the edge of my seat watching that game last night. But the Kings are truly beginning to show that they can come from behind or at least be confident enough to make a good run for it without being down on themselves. Barring any further injuries, they are getting scary good again!

New York Rangers defenseman Marc Staal has swelling around his right eye that makes it difficult to determine the severity of his injury after he was was struck by a slap shot in Tuesday night's game against Philadelphia. "It's hard to say now," his brother, Carolina Hurricanes center Eric Staal, said Wednesday via NFL.com. "They're just waiting for the swelling to go down," Eric Staal said he felt better about his brother's condition after speaking with him Wednesday morning. It's unknown how long Marc Staal, 26, might be sidelined. "He sounded like he was in OK spirits, but we don't know a lot right now," Staal said. "Obviously we're saying prayers and hoping he dodged a bullet as far as being struck in that area. We'll know more with some more time." Marc Staal has two goals and nine assists in 21 games this season
