Just a request --- for those on very high speed internet I am rather sure this is not a problem --- However, on S L O W speed connect, at 3 minutes to load the first page, then to get to the last post .... sometimes getting to where today's update is may take 5 minutes, therefore would it be possible to break these off into a new page every couple of months or when there are 15 posts or so per thread? I can get you on G19 when I am home, but sometimes I want to record and I forget but ---- well, it takes too long to wade through the threads. Thanks.

Oh, and please post earlier in the day. I am off the internet by 2pm PT most days.

Has sattalk been cancelled? I used to listen via podcast and it hasn't been updated since November.

Sent from my iPod touch using SatelliteGuys

He didnt have a show this last week, he has a lot of uplink work to do because of being based in New Orleans, sports related mostly. But he has been on the air all December every Wednesday at 8 Central.

They changed where they archive the shows, but didn't seem to update their RSS feed. Go here to download the shows: Index of /sattalk

Thanks! I had grown accustomed to using iTunes. That way I had direct access to the podcast with my iPod touch without having to use my computer. No biggie though, I'll just download and transfer instead. Thanks for the update!

Thanks, unfortunately my work schedule prevents me from listening live on FTA anymore. But hey, at least I have a job. I'm fortunate in that regard.

If I think about it I will ask Wednesday night about the podcasts for ya. :D

I have been listening to Sat-Talk for over a year now and still haven't really figured out what the purpose of the show is. As far as I can tell it seems to be a 2 hour infomercial to sell Manhattan receivers. Ironically Sat-Talk is the last place I would go to get the latest Satellite news.

If you read the most popular satellite forum namely Satguys, there is plenty of new information regarding the satellite industry. Why do we never hear about it on Sat-Talk?? It seems that the only news we hear on Sat-Talk is somehow related to selling Manhattan receivers.

Mike is always telling us to suggest new topics for discussion, however the truth is he wants no part of anything that may jeopardize his Manhattan sales. On a show about 3 weeks ago Ralf mentioned that he was interested in a Geosat receiver. Of course Mike was having none of that and immediately made a negative comment about the Geosat's power supply. Ralf further made the comment that competition was good for the industry and Mike quickly changed the subject. If anyone doesn't believe me go back and listen for your self.

Here is my concept of a Satellite show. First off the moderator(s) need to be professional and keep their political leanings to themselves. Why are we even talking about politics on a satellite show anyway?? Why Ralf and Mike would alienate their already sparse audience with their Conservative bashing is quite frankly bewildering to me.

My concept of a satellite show would include ALL news regarding the industry. DirecTv and Dish Network have always got something new going on such as releasing new hardware and promotions, channel changes etc. Why don't we have a rep from these providers come on the show monthly or bi-monthly to give us the latest news?

There is a always something new happening in the FTA world. Why don't we invite the distributors of the AZ box or the Geosat to come on the show once a month to take questions and give us the latest news regarding their products? There are probably 25 FTA receivers on the market right now. Why do we never hear about any of them on Sat-Talk? The only distributor that I can recall ever coming on Sat-Talk was Jeff from Manhattan. Big surprise there right.

There are 2 major providers up in Canada namely Shawdirect and Bell. I know that there are many here in the USA and Mexico that would love to hear more about these services. Why don't we contact these providers and ask them to come on Sat-Talk once a month to update us and take a few calls?

Why do we never hear from the satellite internet providers out there? Many of us live in rural areas and would love to have a representative from these providers come on the show and take questions.

There are many veterans out there from the early satellite industry that I am sure would love to come on the show and discuss the history and their experiences if invited. Why do we never hear from them? Bob Cooper is someone who immediately comes to mind. Has he ever been invited? What about Chuck Dawson and Keith Lanonica?

Ralf often complains that no one advertises on Sat-Talk. Frankly speaking why would anyone want to advertise on the show in its current form? Aside from the Conservative bashing, Sat-Talk is essentially 2 hours of filler, much of it not related to the satellite industry. The most interesting part of the show is when Ed calls in to give us his humorous look at things. Mike has a tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience regarding the satellite industry, and is an asset to the show. Unfortunately Mike has an agenda to promote the specific brands of equipment that he sells, primarily the Manhattan line. In fairness to the listeners Ralf needs to find a host to answer the general technical questions, who doesn't have an agenda.

Sat-Talk has the potential to be a great show and increase its audience substantially with a little work. I sincerely hope that changes are made soon and that Sat-Talk remains on the air for many years to come. If however Sat-Talk continues in its existing format, a more appropriate name for the show might be "Manhattan RS-1933 Talk.

I haven't listened much in the last couple of years, last time I tuned in the show started with some kind of rant about Glen Beck hating foreigners.

I haven't listened in awhile. Since they changed the start time to later I haven't been able to tune in as I am putting my son to bed at that time.

When I have turned it it has been later in the show they haven't been talking about about satellite and since they are using shareware software to broadcast I can tell you not many people are tuned in normally under 10 when I check.

I like Mike and respect him a lot and he's just trying to put a roof over his head thus the reason he pushes the Manhattan. I also like that he is working to make c band dishes here in the us again. I just wish he would make a 10 footer. I would love to buy one and fly him or Iceberg out to install it.

I also like Ralf and want to go to New Orleans to meet him. He does like his politics but I am ok with that. Me and Ralf got off to a rough start as one of his shows was taking our radio show and airing it as part of their show without permission. So I went after ralf for it because it was his station. But we made up and all is good now.

As far as Manhattan vs the MicroHD goes I don't think you will find anyone who has had a manhattan and a MicroHD say the Manhattan is better. And with me saying that I am not trying to put down the Manhattan it's just that the MicroHD tuner is better then the Manhattan. The MicroHD is just the next generation receiver. The manhattan was the best S2 receiver at its time. I would love to see a next generation manhattan come out. I also know that as this technology improves the MicroHD will no longer be the top dog and for me that's a good thing. It always great seeing the technology get better.

:pYou're such a thin skinned WEENIE:p...ROFL. You should listen sometime, between a Crazy Cajun and a Show-Me Boy from Hillbillyistan, we could shake things up. :D

I had forgotten about that show. That was one of those moments where you cringe just hearing it even though its doesn't involve you. For those who missed it Ralf and Mike were getting emails from the listeners who were tired of the Conservative bashing that goes on almost every show.

So Ralf starts the show going off on a rant stating how he is a proud Democrat and how he dislikes Glenn Beck because Beck wants to kick out all the foreigners??

A couple of weeks ago the listeners in the chat room were mentioning that they were tired of all the political talk and once again Ralf went into a rant on the air.

Ralf is not the person who should be moderating a talk show. He is way too thin skinned and reacts aggressively to any form of criticism. Ralf seems to have the attitude that it is his show and he will say whatever he wants. If Ralf stays on his current path he soon will be ranting to the crickets.
