SES-1

SES1 at 101W here can be received on my 7.5-foot Perfect dish. The footprint near Vancouver is a couple of dB lower at about 39 dBW than on the east coast.

Previously, if I tuned azimuth, elevation, LNB skew and placement just right, then I could lock and receive the Weigel channels without pixelation or dropouts at just above their minimum lock value of 9.4 dB. Daystar for me locked at 10.44 dB at that time according to scans done in June.

I'll swing the dish around today to see what I can receive now and re-scan the Weigels.

Eugene:
You live just 5 miles from the KFFV over-the-air (OTA) transmitter in Seattle with a METV channel mux . I receive a relay of this channel mux and it contains much of what's on the 101W Weigel channels. Wouldn't it be easier to receive this OTA with a simple antenna than 101W? Here what you can receive via OTA:

I see no signal in 101W at Weigel mux, It was 71% last week. It may be gone or maybe temporarily down
DayStar (4005V 4440) has 76% signal quality.

Fresh blind scan didn't find these channels
Make sure you're pointed at 101W. If you're getting any other active channels like Daystar then you'll know you're on the right satellite. Blind rescan worked for me. What size dish are you using. Mine's a 12 footer. You may have to delete what you already have programmed in.

So I've tuned all I can. I am solidly locking 4005 (10.8 dB), 4020 (10.0 dB), 4030 (9.7 dB), 4048 (9.5 dB), 4080 (9.5 dB), 4120 (10.8 dB), 4140 (6.4 dB). But 4180 is just flickering my SNR reading: not anywhere near locked and certainly not viewable. I'll see how it looks later tonight.

That's really odd. I have a suggestion for you that I've HAD to do at times on my dish: Go to another satellite, and tune in a channel there. Such as 99w, (which is what I do) THEN, go back to 101W and rescan.

Something odd with the Mio's at times, where they won't lock on a particular transponder. Switching sats and going back has always fixed it for me.

I cleared channels on 101W SES1 from my GT Media V9 Prime and did a complete blind scan. There are the Weigels! Not stable yet but they all scanned in with SQ 70%. Later tonight reception usually gets stronger.

I'll try your suggestion.

This didn't seem to have an effect. However now the signal is "fading in" which is odd to say about satellite signals. As the afternoon turns into evening and the temperature goes down, the Weigels come up.

The signal is strong enough on the Edision that I could scan the tp with the new SR. I'm using TNAP6 for all of this. I may try other drivers to see if there's a difference. On the GT Media, I have SQ70% to 71% and all channels are perfectly clear now. Good viewing. I receive most of the Weigel channels via OTA anyway. OTA is 18 dB so usually provides good viewing.
