Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Today's episode was an interesting twist on "A Piece of the Action" and a holodeck Noir episode.
I half expected someone to yell "fizzbin!" when they slapped their cards on the table.

There's a point where borrowing looks more like laziness rather than homage.

They did an exceedingly poor job of justifying (scientifically) the B/W treatment. Breaking Science is much harder for me to suspend than breaking canon; both do a lot of damage.

I think we've already used the Scotty "I canna break the Laws of Physics" meme this month.

Inverse apparently liked the episode, as well:
I agree with some of what they said, but not all...

The Enterprise should've been in color, if for no other reason than just to offset the planetside effect. Just sayin'...

Today's episode was an interesting twist on "A Piece of the Action" and a holodeck Noir episode. It didn't make sense that the story on the Enterprise was likewise "Noir" since they should have been outside the Star system causing the interference with color receptors (maybe a region of space?)

Anyway, I enjoyed the episode, which gave Una a chance to think on her feet. Just don't be too critical or you might ask too many questions about mission assignment and why certain crew are doing what they did.

And, next week is supposed to be the transporter accident with "muppets", so be prepared to be amused/disappointed.
I found the trailer for the show, lol:

Someone else pointed out that this is supposed to be the same Commander Kor who met with Kirk on Organia in "An Errand of Mercy". Unexplained is why Kor has the Klingon forehead ridges in this episode but loses them in seven years. Maybe the "plague virus" that was introduced in "Enterprise" as an explanation, but then Kor must have avoided it until after this incident.

Not like they couldn't have used a different Klingon Commander and avoided a whole lot of grief.

I thought it was a highly forgettable episode.

Strange New Worlds is going to end up being a dream of events played out in Pikes mind when returned to the Cage/Menagerie.
I was not mad at you or your post: just the ending of Enterprise which sucked beyond belief. :crying Or did you really mean Pikes beautiful dream on Talos IV?

I figured that the whole "hand not recognized" control system snafu was going to be the spark that Pike used to eliminate all the capacitive devices on Enterprise, bringing back physical switches and knobs. But nope, all a dream, so unless Spock can convince the rest of the crew that they need to convert to physical controls based on his nightmare, this isn't the trigger.

Since they're evidently not going into Kirk's "Enterprise", they likely decided there was no point in doing that, but I like your angle on it.

I saw two YouTube videos about the "Level 5 Transporter Accident" that were made. One was a channel I hadn't watched before, but he approached it from the Craft angle and says that this wasn't done because they wanted a silly episode, it was the best way to have Spock get past the chaos of working with Humans and moving back towards his Vulcan logical side.

The second was from Paramount as a "How it was Made" look at the episode.
