I cancelled too. They didn't offer anything so I didn't ask. I was mad when the lockout first happened due to billionaires and millionaires arguing over money.
+1... Although they did offer me a one time $50 programming credit.

My wife is a high school English teacher. Her position was eliminated last spring, and it looks like she will be unemployed next fall. I've got a mortgage, two car notes, and a kid to raise. These greedy b@stards will have to get by without me adding to their revenue stream.

If D* didn't rebid on the thing, one of the other providers like Charlie or Comcrap would've plopped their billions down and be doing the same as Direct.

I guarantee Dish wouldn't have done it.

So with the deal done, do we see the charge on our bills tomorrow?

Over half the 1900 players make the league minimum and will never be millionaires

They could if they managed that league minimum salary well, and made some sound investments. Even at the minimum they are well above the majority of Americans. From what I have read, starting at zero years of experience (it changes as you get more experience) the minimum is over $300,000 a year.

I'm not sure about that statement. I looked at the Salaries Database on USA Today and selected a team without a lot of superstars on it from the 09-10 season (Bills). From my count only 14 made the minimum, and several of those were enhanced with huge signing bonuses....

From PFT today about winners in the lockout:

I dont doubt that but as he showed, some of those have substantial signing bonuses as well.

In any case, its still alot of money to play a game for a living. :)

Agreed.

Within two years of retirement, 78 percent of NFL players are bankrupt or in severe financial distress.

.......

The 78 percent number is buoyed by the fact that the average NFL career lasts just three years. So, figure a player gets drafted in 2009, signs for the minimum and lasts three years in the league: He will have earned about $1.2 million in salary.

D* IMO made a pretty slick business decision in giving away ST to new subs....an investment in the future. Lots of those folks would not have subscribed at all had it not have given to them. Tipped the scale for a bunch of folks who had been considering becoming subscribers for some time. They will be D* subscribers for years. A fair percentage will buy ST outright in years to come. I doubt it costs D* much if any money to push the button to add ST to new subs. With the lockout and price increase there probably would have been many fewer subscribing to D* purely for sake of getting ST because they are diehard fans of a particular team. They know what they are doing.

I just called and was told to call back in a few days for some possible special pricing. I can wait a few i guess

For ST ?

Wonder what the "Renewal" price is this year vs the "Early Bird" (if there is an Early Bird this year).
Vs the Regular price ?

Yea for sunday ticket. It was after ten last night when I called. So yea I know the csr's line about possible speicial prices just might be bs. I will call back today to see If "special prices" have been put on the system (doubt it) :)

The csr did mention that with the NFL deal being done they needed time to put things together, which I have been reading is a phrase
That many have been told

Here is what going on in a nutshell.

We had no idea what was going on with the NFL. Other then the regular season price which we were told may or may not change depending on the lockout. We were told that shortly after the lockout completed and the player were back to doing what they do we would have the ealry bird and renewal pricing. As of yesterday we had not had an update.

I guess it depends on what team you watch but I'm not getting it this year. Looking at the schedule I see many Pats games will be on ESPN or CBS or Fox in my area. They need to look at offering the games on a pay per view weekly basis. I know that I will see the following weeks free in my area. Week 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13,16. Ten games I will see for free. Now even if they don't show that many this year and change what games I see on CBS I will at least get 7 . It stinks to pay that kind of money and then see the game on ESPN or on CBS on my local affiliate.

I am skipping it as well. Called this morning, just reminded what I would miss out on. No deal offered but I am ok with that. I plan on using this money instead for season tickets possibly

I also will try redzone on my iPad
