Has anyone tried this ebay iptv fta reciever?

I was at ebay, looking at this cheap ebay iptv fta DVB-S2 reciever.

It uses a usb wifi dongle, and I am wondering, whether a usb ethernet adapater would work with it?

And also, I would need to delete the porn apps on it.

I asked the seller, but I suspect that he's just a reseller, and doesn't really know much about it.

Has anyone had any experience with this receiver?

Certainly short on any type of specification or performance. Red flags for me are: Can't upgrade apps., AC3/Dolby decoding? MPEG4? Outputs?

Always love to experiment. I get my eBay bucks in April so if it's still for sale maybe I'll put a few of my own bucks with 'em and give it a try. Unless someone beats me to it...

I don't know but after you mentioned that I took a closer look at the specs and see IKS is listed so I'm gonna skip this one and put my 'bucks' into something else - not gonna be supporting any of that!

What is IKS?

That is a good point on the C-Band satellites not being listed.

I just contacted the seller to ask him about the C-band.

Close, but the SatHawk PVR200HD does not have internet capabilities.

Talked to the seller. He says it has c-band capabilities.

Thought maybe there might be a setting for straight ethernet.

It does not have any capability for usb to ethernet.

And cannot not delete any apps.

I just lost interest in it.

They are generic, and there is several dealers on alibaba that sell these. I bought 6 of these, (branded under a different name, DVBS World), for less than $25 each, and it does have wireless lan capabilities with an optional antenna. The Ralink 5370/7601 usb wireless adapter is the one recommended for this receiver. There is no ethernet port on these receivers. I personally don't use the IPTV function, so I can't comment on how well it works. Also noticed that AC3 audio does not work on some channels, but does work on others. Probably not licensed for AC3 would be my guess. I have modified my receivers by taking one unit and erasing all settings, creating my own satellite & transponder list, backed up the user.db to a usb stick, then uploaded it to my other receivers and saved a lot of time setting them up.

I bought a couple of $25 Chinese receivers recently because I need a few to just sit on a couple of single channels all the time and record.

They both used USB WiFi adapters that looked identical but were incompatible. I reckon support of a wired adapter depends on how lucky you feel

The software in both works, but it's a bit wonky. Lots of little bugs or inconsistencies in the way things are done but they do the job (just).

They are so cheap that you can afford to experiment, but I did gain a better appreciation for why my MicroHD cost ten times the price.
