2018-19 NCAA Football Thread

I would think they would pick Kentucky, as the Wildcats have never been to the Sugar Bowl.

You’re probably right. For the Wildcats to have only 2 losses, that would mean they’d have beaten both Florida and Georgia head to head, and lost to Bama in the SECCG. They don’t play LSU, but both teams would be 3-1 against common opponents during the regular season. It would likely come down to where they are ranked in the end, with Kentucky having the edge by making it to the SECCG.

In the beginning of the year, a thought crossed my mind that Ohio State and LSU would meet up in a Bowl game ... I was hoping not, thinking that that would mean we probably didnt make the playoffs .... at least one of us.

LSU got better as the season went one and raised thier level of play while so far OSU has gotten worse with each week.

Buckeyes had a week off to try and fix issues .... wonder what they did ...
Offense looked ok, they were able to run the ball ... however it was Nebraska ...
Defense ws no better ...

They keep saying that we need to get the injured players back .... that means they have little depth.

Couple of things.

First of all, the Cats are still not in the same league (tier) as the Bama's, UGA's, LSU, and maybe Auburn within the SEC. The talent is much better than the past but still not there to compete with those three teams year in and year out. I was worried about this team defensively but overall, the issue has been on the offensive side, which is surprising and very disappointing. BUT, I think the program is going in the right direction and even though I am still not sold on Stoops as a head coach who can take us there, he and his staff and great recruiters.

Second, Bama demonstrated last night, in one of the most hostile environments in college football, they are simply better than everyone else this season. It looks as if another title game between Bama and Clemson is on the offing. BUT, as of today, I am not sure any team can beat Bama this year, generally speaking.

yesterday was disappointing but if they can win out, a 10-2 record would be extraordinary. Peach Bowl is a great bowl for the fans and much better than the Music City Bowl.

You’re right (although Nashville is a fun time too!).

I knew LSU wasn’t going to beat Bama, but I hoped for a better performance to help them maybe slip into the Sugar Bowl. That chance seems remote at best now.

One way only for Oklahoma to get into the playoffs: Ohio State beats Michigan, and Alabama beats Georgia in the SEC championship game. But Oklahoma might have to beat West Virginia twice to get there.

Meanwhile Ohio St. needs to beat Michigan and also needs West Virginia and Oklahoma to beat each other (very possible as they will likely be playing each other in back to back weekends).

Agreed. I made that comment after WV beat Texas. All subject to change, of course.

Anybody know when the College Football Playoff Committee "Whose In " show is tonight ?
Its usually on ESPN at 7 ... or at least I thought it was ...

I don't see it in the guide anywhere.

Found it ...

The second College Football Playoff: Top 25 show is scheduled to begin on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET. The rankings broadcast will last thirty minutes, and it airs between the State Farm Champions Classic college basketball doubleheader, which will feature the Michigan State Spartans against the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kentucky Wildcats versus the Duke Blue Devils.

Looks more like 9:30 ....
Was over 5 minutes to play at 9pm.

And they couldn't have put it on one of the other ESPN channels at the NORMAL 7 pm time slot that was showing Nothing but reruns ????????????????

On a side note, with 8 minutes to go MSU was down by 12-14 points to Kansas ... :20 sec left amd MSU trails by 3.

Here are the new CFP rankings:

4. Michigan (8-1)
