Ohio State vs Michigan

The BIG TEN Network?....isn't that already called ESPN! Seriously, I hope they broadcast all the wrestling, volleyball, softball, etc. on this channel...but please keep football on ESPN. On a side note...I wonder how many times ABC/ESPN is going to push the big "Michigan at Ohio State" this week? They were heavily advertising the game last week, even while both teams were both doing their best to give the game away.

Unfortunately, it pains me to admit that OSU has the better team this year. Of course the margin is pretty slim, and anything can happen in next weeks game. My predictions:

  1. Indiana and Northwestern are going to play their best game of the season. After all, this is their bowl game. However, OSU by 20 and Michigan by 14.
  2. If Manningham is healthy, then the Good Guys in Maize & Blue win by 1...if not, the Evil Villains win by 9.

Defense will rule the day. MICHIGAN by 7! GO BLUE!!! (Against OSU)

Yes DEFENSE will win "THE GAME" as usual
A good offense will help,

So, Who has the better DEFENSE and Who has the better OFFENSE ?

OSU's Defense has been getting better and better with the experience they are gaining every week.
Remember OSU's D lost 9 STARTERS to graduation last year.
They are young and will only get better !!!

Ohio State 54
Northwestern 10

Michigan 34
Indiana 3

Both teams took care of business today :)

:welcome to what us in OH-IO call

"Michigan Week "

Let the fun begin @party

Michigan at Ohio State IS the National Championship

There are only two contenders for the National Championship in my opinion. As long as the game next week is close, both teams have proven they deserve to play for the National Championship.

The Pretenders List:

#3 Louisville: lost to Rutgers...who will soon lose to West Virginia.
#4 Texas: exposed by giving up 45 points and suffering a 2nd defeat.
#5 Auburn: blown out and embarred in their 2nd loss
#6 Florida: they lost this games in every way other than the scoreboard...not a top 10 team.
#7 USC: the season hasn't been championship caliber, and they will lose a 2nd game before the season is over.
#8 California: fell to 5-5 Arizona (famous for tea, not football).
#11 Arkansas: pounded an over-rated #13 Tennessee.
#13 Tennessee: pounded by an over-rated #11 Arkansas.
#15 Rutgers: will get beaten up by West Virginia.

Other Big Phonies

Unranked Miami: character counts...they had a few good years, but the football program is on its way to being another city college program like Louisville, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Toledo, etc.

Unranked Florida State: shut out by Wake Forrest, 30-0 no less, at home. Yikes! It looks like Bobby Bowden is suffering from the same illness as Joe Paterno...coaches who stayed too long. When Bowden heads south to retire, Florida State football will head south as well. It's just too bad that Bobby Bowden has decided to retire while still on the job.

SEC Football: they are no longer contending for the national title, and Arkansas is the closest thing they have to a legitimate BCS team.

LOL....People said that last year that USC was UNBEATABLE....we all saw what happened. I am a big Miami fan and The U was never a contender because of injuries and how young the team was....so to put them as a pretender....that is an oversight on your part. And a "few good years" ...they are THE most successful program the last 25 years. Without them, the Big East would NOT have a BCS bid....period. As to think they will turn into a "city college"...that is a laughable comment....Miami has a very rich football tradition that is matched by only a handful of schools in this country. And the fact that the state of Florida is second to none when it comes to high school talent, with the right coach next year....this team will be back within 3 years max. And you can say the same about Florida State...Schools go through cycles....once these 2 schools re-evaluate their situation and address them, they will be back in no time....so at the moment, alot of 'U haters' are reaping the rewards and enjoying The U's transition season...they will be back. And don't make a big deal about the Big Ten....because outside of the top 3 teams there...it is a definitely plunge after that and the fact that there is no strong Florida State and The U is weak....the networks...especially The Big Ten Network....ESPN, has no choice to hype this game 4 weeks before it is even played(you know they prayed to every God ever known for those teams to be undefeated). NOW the BCS is praying that WV beats Rutgers, because IF they go undefeated....then they HAVE to get a BCS bid...and I am sorry...they WILL deserve to play for the Championship if they are still undefeated against the winner of the 'other' "game of the century". IF they do lose, well....it will probably be either Florida or possibly Notre Dame....but hey, this is premature because some teams need to finish their seasons/schedules.
But lets not crown the Ohio State/Michigan winner the national champ just yet.;)

Except if you take the top three teams out of ANY league you can say the same thing.
No league out there is as good as the top teams in any other league.

That like complaining that the Buckeyeas didn't play anyone this year, they played thier schedule and thats all they can do.
You do not know how good most teams will be from year to year.
The Canes have been going thru transition for several years now.

Ohio State was not expected to be very good this year.

Losing 9 starters on the Defense will do that to you, originally this year, I figured they would have to outscore people in order to win this year .....

I am very happy with how this year has started ... so far.

jimbo

WOW....Last year they were 9-2 .....I am sure ALOT of teams would like a "transition" year like that! :D

WHAT are you talking about Jimbo....?? They were PRESEASON #1 in BOTH the AP poll and the USA Today poll......

Thats polsters guessing.
Can you honeastly say if your team was going to lose 9 Starters on Defense , niot to mention any on offense, that you would be this good.
After they were listed as # 1 , most speculated that that was way to high and could not possibly be right, they were listed to start the season at number 1 because of where the ended last year and the fact that Vince Young was gone from Texas, otherwise Texas would have been # 1.

I as a Buckeye fan was shocked to be picked that high, no one expected the D to come around as quickly as they did.

Also, had they lost that second game, in Texas, I bet the Bucks would have fallen out of the top 10.

I would suspect, IF the Bucks lose this week, they will drop to at least 7 or 8 and no longer have a chance at playing in the championship game, EVEN THOU that would only have 1 loss like all the other 1 loss teams.
A loss at the end of the year is always worst than at the start of the year.

Unless they lose a real close game.

But Jimbo....those "polsters" have alot more inside info that you and I will NEVER have. Not to mention they ALSO know the recruits that those teams pickup alot better than we do....so they knew that OSU had recruited well and that the guys coming behind them would be just as could or maybe even better than what they had. When you rank the Top...say...5...you are never far off....because those teams are LOADED....once you go into the 2nd 10...THATS when it becomes a crap shoot.

I know you guys are probably sick of them by now but if USC wins out they are in the championship game again, not Rutgers. They are finally starting to play decent after losing 15 players to the pros. The Pac10 overall is the highest rated conference this year in the BCS computers.

Strength of schedule counts, as it should. They killed Arkansas and Nebraska. It won't be easy but if they beat Cal Berkeley, Notre Dame, and UCLA they deserve it. At least Texas lost!

I'm glad you felt that confident in the Buckeye's defense in the start of the year.
After the first few games, it was evident that they were FASTER than last years, but thats alot of experience that went to the pro's. and you never know with players starting for the first time.

If OSU beats "that team up North" this week and they don't do a rematch,
I hope it's USC out of the 1 loss teams, I think that would be best.

I feel the Bucks Can beat any of them, but I think the USC game would be interesting and it would be the Big Ten and the Pac Ten again.

Flordia would be interesting in this part of the country as Urban Meyer was the coach down the road from me (25 miles) in Bowling Green,
nice to see him having success.

Notre Dame for the obvious reason, OSU beat them last year and they want revenge and OSU could win again.

IF the OSU / Team up North game is a good close game, there is a definate possibility that they could play again, as I look at the BCS points as of today, the top two teams are ahead of the # 3 team by quite a bit .(if you compare them to the rest of the top 5.
For all you not wanting to see a repeat of the last game, keep in mind that they will have over 50 days off, almost 2 months, unlike most of you teams that play into the middle of December... difference being, a 2 week lay off vs 2 months makes a huge difference in continuity.

Who is Cal Berkley and why are they in the discussion ? Is this California ? If it is, they have NO chance, they are # 15 in the BCS and they have 2 losses. I think Texas would have won ,had their QB not gone out with shoulder problem, (it looked like, not confirmed shoulder)

1) It is CAL that he is talking about
2) He was not saying that CAL should be in the championship game. He was saying that if USC beats those teams that they deserve to be there.

You know..of the 1-loss teams...it would be very hard to say no to either USC or Florida....IF they were to run the table.....BUT, though the conference is NOT very strong....IF Rutgers goes undefeated the rest of the year....can you actually DENY them a chance at the BCS Championship game...the Big East DOES get a BCS bid...

Florida lucked out against Tennessee, slid by a .500 Georgia team, edged out a win against Vanderbilt, and should have lost at South Carolina. Florida is a 7-3 team, at best, and doesn't deserve the #3 ranking nor an opportunity to play in any Championship. Sorry, but the loser of the UM-OSU is more deserving of a title shot than Florida...heck, even Rutgers is more deserving of a title shot than Florida...and they are going to lose to West Virginia next week...and USC is going to lose against Cal and/or Notre Dame.

Some would argue that Michigan doesn't deserve a title shot if they lose to OSU this weekend. I cannot disagree. However, should Michigan defeat OSU this Saturday, the Buckeyes are the ONLY team deserving of the #2 ranking and a title shot. What other one loss team was ranked #1 for eleven weeks? What other 1 loss team tore through a #2 Texas like they were made of paper? And! Other than a head of lettuce meeting a food processor, can you name another 1 loss team that has so completely shredded their opponents this season? Barring a complete and total failure by OSU (not going to happen), they have earned a spot in the BCS Championship.

- When Michigan wins this Saturday, they will once again be playing OSU in the BCS Championship.:)

- Should Michigan lose this weekend, well...then evil will rule the world for another year.

I dont see a rematch happening. I also dont think that it would be fair to the winner of Saturday's game. Oddly enough the ranking on the computer part of the BCS is 1. Michigan, 2. Rutgers, 3. OSU. Michigan finally gathered a no. 1 vote in the polls this week. That leaves 64 to eat crow next Saturday. Going back to the rematch, what happens if there is a different winner - a rubber match?

You must have an inside that no one else has. Because there are no assurances in college football....ask Auburn about that...IF Ohio State loses...AND Rutgers WINS OUT...NOBODY deserves to play more than Rutgers...IF undefeated.
Now about Florida...traditionally, SEC and the Big Ten...and the SEC has more teams than any other conference in the Top 25...sssooooo, if Florida, USC and the loser of the Ohio State/Michigan game...I would think the BCS would lean towards Florida. But as long as Rutgers stays undefeated....all bets are off.

about the rematch thing....It got hurt a little with the Texas loss to KSU. If OSU were to lose to the "team up north", a 11-1 texas team would have helped OSU. Just like a 11-1 ND team would help out the Team up north. Not only would it look good in the computers, but it would have essentially given a ceiling on how far each team would fall in a close loss. Both Texas and ND got beaten handly at their own house. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to imagine a poll voter putting ND above "the team up North" or texas above OSU. Now that Texas got beat, pollsters can drop OSU lower in the event of a loss. If ND wins out,FL loses and OSU wins a close one, don't be suprised with a rematch.

UCLA beats USC

UF Now SEC Champs.. National Title game??
