I'm not going to commit to a 1 year deal until D* has more HD channels even if it is free for 6 months......I'm gonna wait and see what D* adds to the HD package in the next few month's and then commit to a 1 year contract..........I dont want to waste 2 months out of the free 6 month deal on 4 HD channels .......I want aleast 6 or 7 for the 6 free months deal....anybody else feel this way????

I agree they need more channels, but i want the olympics in HD.

I would expect by the time i am paying for it to have a few more channels to choose from. The free months are a total bonus to me. I am to excited for this HD i am going to activate my box when it comes UPS tomorrow, and promptly leave town for 3 weeks. How is that for being economical with my free HD??!!

I don't know. Maybe its because I've never had the privilige of watching HD content in my home (only seen it at the store), I would think that the HD content now is sufficient at least for the "newbies." I personally enjoy watching Discovery stuff and HDNet sports seems cool because I watch Major League Soccer and once the fall comes around I like the NFL. And if the rumors are correct, D* may well lead the way in DTV programming into next year.

I'm not a big fan of committing to a year's worth of any programming as I make VERY little money, but considering I have NO plans to cancel DirecTV, and I have to make a year's commitment to DirecTV once I get my DirecTIVO, it's kind of a no-brainer! Besides, while I'd prefer more HD content, I'm faily happy with my four (and now six) channels of HD!! :~)

Hey guys........LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY.........If it was my first time of watching HD in my home or for the first time..........I myself would be chopping at the bit to get this deal......I totally understand the way you guys feel..........man there is nothing like watching an ESPN NFL/MLB game in HD.......the only reason I chose to wait is I already have all the networks in HD which I watch alot of here lately.....................BUT I'M PERSONNALY GONNA WAIT UNTIL AT LEAST SEPTEMBER 12TH ....( I believe D* will have most of the new HD channels added by this time)...THATS WHEN THE NFL SEASON STARTS before I commit to the 1 year contract.....GO STEELER's

I think the biggest thing i am looking forward to is Discovery HD. I really like watching crap like that. ESPN will also be a plus, as I am an avid baseball fan.

With the deal you are talking for $66 for a year of HD (4 channels now, maybe 6 soon, then 8, ??). If you pay for HBO, you pay $13 or something a month for a few channels.

I watch more short programming and sports than movies, so after my 4 months of free TC premier i will ditch the locals (use OTA) as well as a couple of the movie tiers that i never watch anyways. Shave off a few bucks. Try to get my bill as close to $60-$70 as possible. I was paying well over $100 with COX to get all this garbage i never watched (including the wonderful Arizona nightly news on thrilling subjects like car accidents and north phoenix house fires........) Now i can watch these wonderful shows in vivid HD...................

No doubt HD will be the future of this sport that we enjoy so much. Getting HD now will just better adjust our eyes for the years to come :)

Thanks for all your help Scott, but I am still not clear about whether this applies to those of us who already subscribe to the HD Package?
DirecTV does not care as you are extending your agreement time with them for a year. :) Everyone is eligible for the deal.

We Are So Sorry!!!!!

Just to let you all know, there are some people ( like myself ) that like to make the extra effort. I am what Mr Neutron would call a " CSR manager" better know in DTV as a resolution specialist ( res spec ). This whole situation was ( and I can assure you ) a simple snafu. :no The information was released to the dealers without having CSR's trained or aware of the offer. I do monitor web sites like this just to give you guys the heads up. I like to go above and beyond to make sure that everyone is on the same page. No, I'm not at work... this is my off time, and look how I'm devoting it... to you. If it weren't for our customers... DTV wouldn't be in business... and I'd be out of a job. I really don't want that to happen if you know what I mean. So... Here it is. WE ARE SO SO SO VERY VERY VERY SOOORRRRYYY!!! . I know how frustrating it is to call someone and feel like they are trying to call you a liar. We weren't. It's just that if we are going to honor something, we have to know it exists. Mr Neutron, don't even worry about calling in tomorrow. I feel very confident that the manager tried to call you at work... maybe they even got hold of you. If not, the res spec that you were speaking with will call you back and have the correct info. I GUARANTEE IT!!! :shh You of all people should know that DTV values it's customers ( think about what we did for your Tivo AND the HD receiver... doesn't that just put the icing on the cake? )
Well... for now, I will bid you all a good night, and if you have any questions... don't hesitate to e-mail me... you might get a better answer than you think :shocked .Ooh... and please don't ask me to do things that you know I can't do while I'm not at work.

Your friendly DTV Res Spec,
white_knight_2010@yahoo.com

I'm almost positive you're the manager I asked to come to this site to verify what I was saying. :D

This isn't what you thought it was? If I remember right you said you thought this was a dealer site. Scott Greczkowski is the forum admin and was quite tickled when I told him that. :)

Thank you for being on top of things over at Directv. We don't have a lot of representation from Directv on this forum. I hope you will continue to bring things our way. As you can tell by our member count we have quite a number on this board. It's people like you that bring good customer service from big companies like Directv. You don't see that much anymore.

By the way I couldn't be more happier with our HD receiver and my wife has gotten to the point of the can't live without feeling of our Directivo. In fact, soon I may be adding another to replace our only standard receiver left. I will be more than happy to pay for that one as you guys have proven what DISH can't get done right, a nice reliable user friendly box. My wife isn't a tech person at all and knows our Tivo back and forth. :) I can assure you that now we have our HD box we will be customers for a long time to come.

I take it you went back on my notes to find out about the Tivo and HD receiver. Very scary. :D

I just called and got the deal and I was an existing customer CSR was great knew exactly what I was talking about. I was her first so she did need to go to the supervisor to figure out how to do it. She shut off HD channels and turned them back on to activate the credit.

Again D* let me "Feel The Joy"

The deal is working now........

I just got the deal also.....

I was an existing customer who already subscribed to the HD package.

Thanks to this forum for allowing me to save some cash.......!

I just got it as well , I am an existing customer who already subscribed to the HD package as well, I also got showtime for a month free . I ask if they could through in something else with the deal just to see what they would say and they gave me showtime .

Just made the call. All went smoothly. I was the first one that had called this CSR but he knew about the promotion and the credit already shows on my account. No problem with the fact that I already subscribed to the HD package. Thanks Scott and all members of this forum for keeping me informed and saving me $$ :yes

Ahh I am glad everyone is getting it now. :)

SatelliteGuys is proud to help you guys save money. It was a bunch of aggrivation yesterday but I think it was worth it. :D

I'm going to try and get it later today when I activate my DirecTIVO, but a guy on AVSForum said that he was told it was not available for former Pegasus customers. I'll try it later anyway, but I thought I'd bring it up here too!

The way I read it, we are committing to another full year of a Total Choice package at a minimum of $36.99, not the HD package. Am I reading it correctly? What about those of us that are still on a discounted 1st year commitment?

This is for Pegasus customers,
Folks doing the transition from Pegasus to D* should call our "handlers" at 866-237-0700 and start it up with the CSR. They don't have the software switch in their computers, yet; but, the fellow I dealt with, this morning, set it up manually -- filled out a form and his supervisor will get the freebie started, today or tomorrow.

I just called DirecTV the woman I talked to said I already had the HD Package and I wasn't eligible for the free 6 months. I told her it was for exisiting customers also and she said "no". I'll call back later and try again.

Crendall, this promotion is for ALL customers. :)

Just play CSR Roulette and you will WIN.

DirecTV wants your business for another year. :D
