Hi, buddy of mine wants to use two 18 inch dishes and somehow combine the signals so he can get multiple satellites (locals, hd, and regulars) at his deercamp when he takes his receiver out there for weekends. Is there a special switch or some method for combining the two dishes together?

Thanks!

He needs a 4 x 4 multi-satellite, multi-dish switch. It would be easier to purchase a Phase 3 dish antenna, unless locals are located at 72.5 WL.

Thats a good question. My signal meter has 101 and 119 satellites and when I install 18 inch dish and point it wrong direction it can easily obtain a good signal on 119 satellite. I dont think you can use basic dish for Ka-Ku band reception but you might be able to get signal from 110 satellite which provides HD programming. I would like to know more about this question if anybody knows.

Not unless he has at least 3 dishes! He'd need one for 101, one for 110 and one for 119. If he wants anything from 72.5 or 95, he'd need those too, plus the appropriate multiswitch. He'd also need the 110 sat integration kit.

Waaaay too much effort when he can pick up a used phaseIII dish/LNBs for next to nothing now.

3 18" dishes with a sat"C" kit and a 4x4 switch would do it but a Phase 3 dish is so easy to get cheaply off Ebay it isn't worth playing with the 18" dishes.:)

what us sat "C" kit? and which 4x4 multiswitch are we talking about exactly? can you provide a link with pictures and description? also you guys saying 18 inch dish can get signal from 95 satellite? If I knew I wouldnt have to spend 50 bucks on international dish.

Tha SatC kit combines the 18v outputs of the 110 and 119 satellites, which in turn feed into the 18v input on the multiswitch. Any 4x4 (or 4x8 or 4x12) 22 khz multiswitch will do, I'm partial to powered ones.

What type of tech are you that you don't know about sat"C" kits and 4x4 switches or that a 95 sat is not dbs?

Thanks cheebs.

Boba, I didnt go to college for satellite installation like you did I only know what I was trained to do and never had problem in the field. We dont do sat C kits instead we put up triple sat dishes where I work. Few times that I had bad 110 lnb on service calls I simply replaced that dish with a triple sat and it worked.
