No, I just built it a couple of weeks ago. A lot of things didn't work in Lion (specifically video at only 1024x768 and sound), so I decided to wait until ML.

I bought an Ivy Bridge processor knowing it wouldn't be fully supported until ML.

Rocky, are you using you MacBook Air to do the AirPlay streaming from Amazon? If so, does that trigger the fan into overdrive? I have tried streaming from my SlingAdapter on the 722k and while it works, my Air makes so much noise as to ruin the experience. I'll stick to using my iPhone or my wife's iPad to play back on the AppleTV upstairs.

It did not send the fan into over-drive the one time I used it, but I only had that safari window open. Many things send the fan into over-drive, I was shocked that didn't. but I did not use it for long. It was just a test.

The more I play with AirPlay, the more I think the issue I experienced with the Dish Online playback is the special plug-in required on the Mac to play back Sling Adapter content. Playing Sling content or Dish Online content sends the fan singing to keep things cool.

On a related note, the new Gatekeeper feature in Mountain Lion can be overridden on an App by App basis. If you Option-click on an unsigned executable and select Open, you can run the program after supplying Administrative credentials. This is safer than opening up all unsigned code in Gatekeeper.

I appreciate knowing that, as I alreayd had to turn gatekeeper off to install a tweak to get rid of the crappy look to Contacts and Calendar. :)

You mean "Skewmorphism?" Maybe Apple is targeting the Steampunk crowd with all the retro leather themes.

Decided to do a clean install of Mountain Lion on my MBP, which has been acting strange for awhile, way too many spinning rainbows of death (usually never death, just delays). Created a ML instal DVD, booted into recovery mode, launched disk utility, erased the hard drive, and now installing the OS fresh. Almost as nerve-wracking as doing that on a PC, but not quite.

Says the install will take 17 minutes, I'll be curious if it does. I am looking forward to setting up the machine from scratch again. That is always a nice thing.

Now the process of reinstalling software begins, so far the machine seems very zippy again. Something was definitely wrong in my install before; no idea what, but its nice having the pro back in business.

Also my first time doing a full OSX install. Could NOT be easier.

You mean you have a sound selected, but it wont play it?

Yes, the notifications do not produce any sound at all. I find the notification bar far less useful than I thought - although it may just be that I am not used to it. Plus the two finger swipe interferes with safari pretty regularly.

I was totally confused as to why iPhoto did not show up with the clean install of ML. Then realized it was on an Applications Disk that came with Snow Leopard. Had to find the disc, but its back. :)

The task of software installation is a pain. But kind of fun.

You can always download it again from the App Store, just select purchases and you will see iPhoto Garage band and others there for download. :)

Garage Band and iMovie showed up in Purchased apps, but iPhoto did not. No idea why. Going to contact Apple to ask them to add it. I read that they will do that.

I still am impressed by how easy it is to do a fresh install - and if I wanted to replicate my Air's setup, I could have used a restore from Time Machine to do that, but I am fine with what I did.

I did just an upgrade installation and it all went extremely well, and lots quicker than I had expected. I had done a fresh Lion install though, just for the hell of it, to an external HD. That was dead simple too.

So far, I'm very pleased with Mountain Lion. The only problem was actually a non problem and that was my V3.1.x of VMWare wasn't compatible. Not a big deal as I don't use it and haven't for a very long time.

Everything seems much quicker too, which is always a big plus.

I am really pleased that the problems with my mbp are gone; no more spinning rainbows. I hate spinning rainbows. :D

Still reinstalling software. Always so much fun. :)

I have a 2007 iMac. According to the requirements I should be able to upgrade to ML,but I also remember trying to DL the beta versions previously but the App Store said that I couldn't install it due to problems with 64-bit & OS Lion(I was trying to see if any of the ML Betas was still in the App Store somewhere saved under my account but I couldn't locate it. It would suck if I paid $20.00 for ML & the App Store said I couldn't install it for the very same reasons it gave for the ML betas.

I could be wrong - as it happens occasionally - but I THINK that the App Store is tied to the hardware you are running it from - so if you were not eligible to purchase/install something, it won't let you. But again, just a guess.

My mail doesn't either. It wont even pop up a banner when new mail arrives.

Nope its tied to your iTunes account. I even download ML to my other Macbook Pro at no charge. :)
