If 208 was a limited rollout and 209 was quickly pushed like this, you can be certain it is limited to the same, if not lower, number of receivers.

Not necessarily. They have had a limited "xxx" release followed relatively quickly by an "xxx+1" general release several times in the past. It's not an uncommon software practice that "xxx" is the test release and "xxx+1" is considered the production release with little or no changes.

I got 209 here last night as well.

S208 only went out to less then 5000 units as a test.

They must have seen something in S208 that caused them to halt the S208 rollout, fix the issue and send out S209.

Yes. That was the question. You said it was on the right in preference section of DRA. I checked that and all I see is the DRA SW version. I think Scott said he used his Sling Box HD to navigate his Hopper menu to see his SW version.
