well thats not good news, i require RF for my home setup, and just hate these new remotes. I read in the documentation that the old remotes were still compatible, ah well, guess Ill figure something out, I wanted the 44 for the sake of the external power supply :)

Like britt said, they've started using a new technology in the new remotes. I forget what it's called but it actually waits for the receiver to tell the remote its received a signal from it before you can hit another button. If it doesn't pick up a signal from the receiver the remote continues to send the signal until it receives it

My HR34 has been good to me so far knock on wood and hope I don't jinx it now ;) :)

Rey,
Maybe you can explain just what you said here to D* and they may work with you, knowing that you've had issues with the 34.

hopefully they work with me in an exchange for a 44 ;)

My thoughts.
So The HR44 was an upgrade from our HR24. The main things we wanted were the 5 tuners and the 1TB Drive. Other than that we were/are happy with the HR24. A few points we like about the HR44.
-Faster!! Even faster then the HR24
-The 1TB Storage
-5 Tuners
-Super Quiet. We moved the HR24 into the bedroom and we can hear the fan(s) the HR44 is silent.
-The new remote. This takes some getting used to but it VERY nice.
-Built in WIFI is nice but not needed

Talking with the tech he said that the new clients for the HR44 can be wireless and will not require a Coax run to them. He also said that as of last Friday they only had the HR44 for 2 days and mine was only the 2nd one he installed. I will try to post some pics later tonight when I am home!

I also inquired about the AM21 and how I could use a Diplexer to get my antenna signal down to my living room. He said that because of MOCA it was not doable. If someone can help me with a wire diagram and what parts to get I would love to set this up too!

There is no wireless client for the Genie available yet. There are lots of rumors but there's no real info yet.

You can't use any form of diplexing with the DirecTV DECA system (DirecTV's own form of MOCA) because the OTA frequencies overlap. You will need to run a separate cable from your OTA antenna to the AM21.

Correct there are no wireless clients yet but he said they are being trained on them. And thank you for the AM21 wiring information.

I would be very surprised if DirecTv would do that.....

Enjoy!
