Hi Guys!

I recently got a free dish from a gas station that was going out of business.
It looks like about 6' dish. The LNB says

''HUGHES NETWORK SYSTEMS"
"Personal Earth Station"
P/N 1011836-001

Can this be used for FTA? C Band or Ku Band?

I also have an old General Instriment 2750R C/Ku VCII receiver I got at a yard sale for $5.00

Will this setup work for FTA or will i need anything else to get started?

Thanks Guys!

Dave.

you will have to add a fta receiver the receiver that you got will only do analog.don't no about the lnb.but the dish should work just fine.

Going to try to post some pics

Here is some pictures of the dish and LNB.

I don't understand all of the connections on the LNB and I can't find any information online.

There is also a similar dish at the same place i got this one.
would it be worth it to go get it?

Thanks!

Dave.

Its a sweet dish! I would get the 2nd one just for a spare :)

The LNB seems to be on top of the transmitter, so just one coax from the DVB receiver (when you get one) to the LNB should do the trick!

NICE find! (x2)

Looks like you've got a LNB/Dish from a credit card machine system ;)

Hi Dave
"NICE DISH"
It looks like one of the hughes setups for credit card transactions.
You may want to contact one of the techs at hughes and get some info on the lnb.
I did a search on the lnb and this is what I came up with.

http://www.satsig.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=ivsat-us;action=display;num=1134937199

http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache...on"&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=6&client=firefox-a

Or you can get some info on the dish and lnb from one of the companies offering satellite internet (see next http)that would be great, let the guys here know what you come up with. They can help you from there.

you may be able to use the dish and lnb for dbs, satellite internet,
Do a search on google for "hughes Personal Earth Station"
I found a few write ups about using this type of equipment for disaster info.
I also read where the lnb maybe ka compatable.

Here's a box on ebay for the system.

Nice VSAT dish! Looks like a C-120 flange right after the feedhorn and before the transmitter/waveguide. You could always bolt a C-120 Invacom on there if all else fails!

Hey guys thanks for all the help! I went back to get the other dish. I might go for that box on ebay. Or wait until next payday and get a good DVB receiver.
I'll see if i can contact Hughes today and get some more info.

Dave.

I don't know about going after the box on ebay yet, The first thing I would do is get as much information from the tech guys on the lnb.Find out what it's capable of.
rdel:)

glad to help dave
Someone around your area had to install the dish, you might make a few calls to the local companies tech support. (usally in larger citys)
Look for other dishes like yours on local companies and ask the owner or manager who they call for help.
You can also ask some of the internet providers on this link

http://www.satsig.net/cgi-bin/yabb/Y...num=1134937199

there's about a six companies there. one of their tech support should be able to give you some answers.

It's better to know what your dealing with (LNB) than to take a chance at burning something up
