NHRA 2010

With my work site (the school at which I teach) being only 2 miles from the track, Tony Schumacher visits my work site at least twice a year with one of his cars, his crew, and the military. Our JROTC sponsors the event.

Here are some pics of one of his cars at my school/work site from yesterday. The second shot is of a buddy and colleague of mine sitting in his car.

Couple of pics from my front yard looking at the Good Year blimp flying over the Winternationals with the snow capped San Gabriel's (where I was skiing this morning) in the background

The track (the LA County Fairgrounds) is only 3 miles from my house. I had a chance to get a VIP pass through our JROTC and I could have been right on the track, but I passed. My hearing is bad enough; I don't want to ruin it anymore.

When we used to go to Maplegrove for the fall nationals. We would buy our tickets the first day available in early jan/feb and would get great first seats in the section right at the starting line for the whole week. However would usually just stand at the fence for the finals on Sunday. You had to have ear protection and loved the nitro fuel in the air burning your nose when they took off

Always sat on the pit side right at the starting line at Bandimiere, nothing like the feel and sound when the light turns green... (got side tracked last night and forgot about the race, will have to check schedule for rerun)
