If you have either Dbs provider...I'm used to hitting info for same on movie and time left etc...

On most universal remote's, info and display are the same button. It's not a problem.

I know there is a button on th HD DVD player that shows the progress of the movie and how much time is left, on the ps3 I just have not found it yet. As for info Yep tried it.

I have the Sony DVD blue ray remote and on it just press the DISPLAY button, get total time, elapsed time and audio/video bit rates.

Yup. Do it all the time when I'm controlling my HD-A3 with my backlit DTV remote. Wish I could say the same about my Sony Blu-Ray (not supported).
