Dixie Carter Talks Batista-TNA, Reason For Impact Time Change
- During Thursday’s press conference & media conference call regarding MMA fighter Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal signing with TNA, TNA President Dixie Carter was asked about whether Batista could join TNA as part of the new agreement with Bellator to feature wrestlers and MMA fighters under the Spike TV.Carter said Batista was a “great talent and great wrestling talent,” but said she was only willing to discuss Lawal joining TNA and Bellator.As previously reported, Batista has been rumored to be signing with Bellator MMA, which would create an interesting scenario for Batista possibly being affiliated with TNA.
- Also at the press conference announcing King Mo’s signing with TNA & Bellator MMA, SpikeTV President Kevin Kay spoe about the decision to move iMPACT! Wrestling’s start time an hour earlier to to 8PM ET. He said the reason was because there is a bigger available audience at 8PM ET vs. 9PM ET. He also added that TNA wants to avoid competing with the NFL once the season starts.He did not say if Bellator will begin airing after iMPACT! on Thursdays next year once Bellator moves to SpikeTV.

TNA’S IMPACT WRESTLING CELEBRATES SUMMER 2012 BY GOING LIVE!

SPIKE TV TAKES HIGHLY RATED SHOW LIVE AND TO 8:00PM/ET BEGINNING THURSDAY, MAY 31st

NASHVILLE, TN - (May 17, 2012) -- TNA IMPACT WRESTLING President Dixie Carter and SPIKE TV President Kevin Kay announce today that the highly-rated “IMPACT WRESTLING” will be going Live! from Universal Studios beginning May 31st and continue through the summer. This announcement coincides with the recently announced new, one-hour earlier time slot change of 8:00-10:00pm/ET every Thursday night beginning May 31st.

“We are excited to take IMPACT WRESTLING Live! all summer long, and have our first Live! summer show launch our new 8:00pm/ET time slot,” says TNA President Dixie Carter. “Summer of 2012 is going to be remembered as the most momentous time in our company's history-to-date. Stay tuned."
MORE ON TNA GOING LIVE WITH IMPACT
The current plan, at least through the summer, is to air every episode of Impact Wrestling live. After the summer, that may change (nothing has been determined past the summer) for those three months, every episode will be live. Powell's POV: I guess Hulk Hogan is getting his way given that he mentioned that 75 percent of the company's problems would be solved if they went live. As a viewer, I welcome the idea of the show going live. From a business standpoint, it could be a costly move for TNA and Spike TV from a production budget standpoint. It is interesting that they left the end date open by saying it will run through the summer.

But the news gets better, read that Brooke Hogan will now be on TNA to be the head of the Knock outs division, what a mess

What is so bad is that I was watching last night and they nearly let Garrett Bischoff win a battle royal for a shot at the title. He eliminated a lot of people that are LOTS better than him. You know it's a bad show when the girls matches are usually consistently better than most of the others.
