Nice series! I guess these young bucks aren't gonna give up so easily after all! To hell with the front office. These kids want to make a name for themselves and this is the perfect time to do so!

Also, nice performance by Justin Masterson over the weekend. (Part of the V-Mart deal). Masterson pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief on Saturday. They are saying he will be converted to a starter before the season is over.

According to WKNR (citing unnamed sources), The Indians will hold a press conference at 1:30 this afternoon to announcing the firing of Eric Wedge.

It's so weird that they're doing it with a few games left in the year...I won't truly believe it until I see it. My prediction for his replacement: Buck Showalter.

Yeah, I was just thinking that. They waited this long to announce the firing, why didn't they just wait a few more days until the season is over? BTW, don't we have a double header today? I wonder if there will be an interm coach or what?

As for replacements, the Indians typically hire from within. If that's the case, I can see Joel Skinner getting a shot. I don't think it's a given though. In this case, I can see them going outside the family for their next hire. Should be interesting...

Yep. There's a doubleheader today. According to knr, they're announcing the firing today to give Wedge some time with the local media and he'll finish the season managing the team (how weird is that????)....I hope they hire from outside. They need a fresh voice.

The CLASSY way to fire a manager or coach is to do so the day after the season ends. With less than a week left in their schedule, this is nothing but a slap on the face to Eric that he does not deserve...no matter how many "issues" there are within.

Saying goodbye at 10AM on Monday at a news conference should have been the way to go.

I predict Red Sox pitching coach and former Indians pitcher, John Farrell will be the next manager of the Tribe.

IMO, Farrell will make a GREAT manager. Just the other day on sports radio, they were saying that Farrell will give some team a great leader.

I may be incorrect here...but I 'd swear on last Saturday's FOX broadcast of the Sox-Yankees game, they showed John in the dugout and McCarver said he spoke with Tito and he squashed any rumors about his departure from the Red Sox organization to be a manager elsewhere saying John was THAT valuable to them.

I thought the same thing until I read the Plain Dealer today. According to the article, Farrell's contract with the Sox doesn't allow him to talk to other teams about a managerial position until after the 2010 season.

If that's true, the Sox should just rip up the contract.

This is a dream of Farrell's, and to manage in Cleveland (a place he's VERY fond of) is the icing on the cake!

John himself try to extinguish any rumors on Boston sports radio the other day.

I just think the Sox should give the man the oppurtunity.

He and Scott Bailes were two of my favorite players (don't ask me why) when I was a little kid.....I'd love to see him come back and manage the Tribe.
