I've discovered our STB can parse and play m3u8 files. Normally I either have to cast those feeds to the TV from my phone (which ties it up for other things), connect a PC via HDMI (doable but cumbersome due to having to use a wireless keyboard with mouse) or on Roku (which doesn't play all of these feeds).

There is a list here of free and legal IPTV channels, which are in m3u8 format.

To play these channels on your STB, right click and copy the URL from the link above. Paste the copied URL into a new tab in your browser. A small .m3u8 playlist file should download. Open this file in PotPlayer to make sure it plays.

Once you've tested the m3u8 link, save the file to a USB drive or EHD connected to your STB. I save my files to a folder in the root called IPTV, but you can name the folder whatever you want. Rename the m3u8 file to something other than "Master," as most m3u8 files save as "Master."

Download the Media player plugin from the Plugins menu on your STB.

Open Media player. Navigate to your USB stick or EHD. Open the folder you saved your m3u8 files in. A list of the files should appear.

From here, you can either play the channels directly or add them to a playlist. There is supposed to be a way to add IPTV channels to a channel bouquet so they appear alongside our satellite channels, but I haven't figured out how to do that quite yet.

Live streaming channels can also be paused, rewound, fast-forwarded etc (assuming you have an EHD connected to your STB and time-shifting is enabled).

Enjoy!

If I click the "Live Test" button on the links page, the few I've tried play fine. If I then paste it into a tab of Chrome and download it, they won't play in Potplayer, or Vlcplayer.

Just says: "Stream not found".

Right, that's why you have to test them in Potplayer first- I haven't figured out why some of them play in the "live test" but not by the file link. All of the ones in my screenshot are currently working. I haven't tested many others.

All of the ones that say "stream not found" still play when you copy/paste the link directly into Potplayer, but they won't play when you click on the file. Still trying to figure that one out.

primestar31 I found a work around for the links that show "Stream not found" in Potplayer:

Copy the link to the stream from here. Open link in VLC by going to Media->Open network stream. Copy/paste the link. The stream will open. Click "Save playlist to file." Then save as M3U (not m3u8) and copy the file to your IPTV folder on your USB stick or EHD. The file will then play on the OS MIO.

That worked! At least for one for sure. I'll get a chance to run through others later. Thanks!

Now figure out how to bring them up in a channel bouquet, and that would be fantastic! By the way, try the Scream Fest channel.

I programmed the blue button on the remote to pull up the Media Player plugin. Not exactly a channel bouquet, but it does get you to your IPTV channels quickly.

I know this is a long shot and I haven't played with it, but are there any plugins that might allow it to record from the feeds on that website?

I just loaded TNAP 3.2 ofgwrite into slot 2, and restored settings from my slot 1 TNAP 3.0. Everything went VERY easy, though I had to remap my usb drive on the Mio, that I save shows and such to, so my laptop would see it again. Kudo's to El Bandido. I just set a couple recordings through the OpenWebif screen, and that also seems to be working ok.

I then loaded the 'Add Stream URL' plugin from the Downloaded Plugins "Extensions" (I think it was) tab. Haven't tested it just yet, as I don't at present have a USB keyboard hooked up. Though I do have a Logitech K400 keyboard I can transfer from my tv set. No time right now.

I did notice that IF I copy/paste the streams in a IPTV folder on the Mio's drive, I can see them just using the normal PVR button and navigating to that folder. Once I highlight one and press PLAY, it brings it up automatically and plays!

Some of those URL's are LONG!! Which USB keyboards are supported?

I assumed that any USB keyboard worked. No? I use a RF dongle, no name, mini USB keyboard.

I have both a mini usb keyboard and the larger K400 (much prefer this one) with the rf dongles. I've used them before on my Amiko receiver, and though I haven't as of yet tried them on my Mio, I see no reason why they wouldn't also work on that.

I can confirm that the Logitech K400 wireless dongle mini keyboard works fine. After installing the usb receiver, REBOOT the Mio, and when it comes back up, keyboard works. I just added some IP streams to a bouquet called "IPTV" with the Add Stream URL plugin.

Worked perfectly.

p.s. I noticed that AFTER you add a stream channel to a bouquet, you have to exit the bouquet into another one, then come back before that newly entered one shows up.

How goes the playback on these things? I attempt to play some on VLC and things usually work, but I try it on the Mio and it'll work for a few minutes/seconds and then the stream will crap out.

So far I've loaded all these channels through the Add Stream URL plugin, and every one plays fine. Also, my Mio is hard-wired to my router via ethernet cable:

American Horrors
American Classic Network
Classic Tv 4U
24/7 Retro TV
Horrified Tv
It's At The Movies
Movee 4U
Movie Kingdom
Screamfest
The Asylum
