Talks about G.fast which can bring up to gigabit speeds to homes using standard copper wires that people have in their homes now.

He has a guy out from the Linux foundation talking about how much open source code AT&T uses. He jokes how he can't understand how DIRECTV can send out over 100 channels of content over the internet and all for $35 a month. Then John Donovan jokes the $35 price goes away on January 9th.

iirc gfast has a very short distance gigabit is less than 100meters, so they still need something close to the homes

Nothing really. They said they are working to bring Broadband to rural areas which have never had broadband before and that was about it.

We’re already executing on that strategy and today we’ve shared some additional details on how we’re building the network that will be necessary for increased demands (and on that note, we’re sharing for the first time that data on our mobile network has increased about 250,000% since 2007).

AT&T expects to reach 1 Gbps theoretical speeds at select cell sites in 2017; three-way carrier aggregation already live, and four-way aggregation is coming this year.
The industry expectation for 5G latency is less than 5 milliseconds; in lab trials, we’ve successfully tested a connection with less than 3 milliseconds.
In the first half of 2017, we plan to conduct a trial in Austin that supports DIRECTV NOW streaming over a fixed wireless 5G connection.

Mdam what if they improve on the 4k Server and 4k Client? What if they add 802.11 AC and Moca 2.0 to them? I am looking at the Server/Client in a new way now. I think people don't like the current set-up is if they only have one 4k TV. I don't understand why people would only have one 4k TV? Unless they would just wait until their 1080p TV broke and then replaced it with the 4k TV. If the customer had a 1080p TV then replaced it with the 4k TV why not put the 1080p TV in another room and have the HR-54 on it and then have the C61k on the 4k TV?
