I have noticed that when i take off the plastic cap that covers the head of the lnbf, i gain about 5% in signal quality. Has anyone experienced thesame? If this is so, why do manufacturers put it if it degrades signal?

Yes, it is there to keep things out. (Water/moisture and insects come to mind)

wait till you see how much a loss when the bees get in there ....

it makes the signal better without it but the bees will make a nest quickly and reception will suck plus you will get stung by the mean little bastages.

Try the bottom of a water bottle, it "should" be lead free
