hi
my name is chris, i live in northern michigan 49611
i recently purchased a sattelite system from fta sales i can not get it working it will not pick up anything it shows 50-75 percent signal on all sats with 00% quality they referred me to you
i bought the package deal , captiveworks cw 600 s, fortec star dish, stab horizon to horizon rotor, ultrasat ku band lnbf model us-200L RF:11.70, IF:950/1450MHZ, LO:10.75GHZ, GAIN 60db, noise figure o.6db. also coolsat 4x1 diseqc 1.2 switch which is not hooked up, is that only for hooking up more dishes?
my latitude is set at 42 elevation set at 38.5 rotor seems to work fine but nothing not even music channels can you tell me what i am doing wrong? i have tried every configuration i can think off with no luck
also why does my lnbf have two connection points?
any help you can provid would be greatly appreciated
keep in mind i have dial up, i have to dial long distance to get online
thank you
chris :)

Satellite Finder is (c) Copyright 2004, P. Lutus

I would remove the motor for now and find and store a few satellites first, good idea not to use the switch for now!

Sounds like Dual LNBF thats why it has two connections!

thanx i guess i forgot to tell you i know nothing about this stuff really do not understand this info i have two setting on dish lattitude and elevation

this was supposed to be plug and play fta shame on me

When using the motor you will have to aim at your True South satellite, AMC-2 @ 85w

http://www.lyngsat.com/amc2.html

Not much of anything there right now, so ask here for a LIVE TP. to use just before you point the dish again, if you use USALS any close by satellite will work, again it HAS to be a live TP./Channel or you will NEVER see signal quality!

once again i know "NOTHING ABOUT SATTELITE" CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME STEP BY STEP HOW TO GET SOMETHING ANYTHING ON MY NEW BOX WHAT IS A LIVE TP? NEWBIE NEWBIE NEWBIE CANT STRESS ENOUGH I KNOW NOTHING I POINTED SETUP SOUTH SET LATITUDE AND ELEVATION WAS EXPECTING PLUG AND PLAY LIKE SATTELITEGUYS.NET TOLD ME SO FAR NOTHING NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT FROM THEM NOW THAT THEY GOT MY MONEY THEY JUST REFER ME HERE KEEP GETTING KICKED OFF LINE, WAY OVER MY LONG DISTANCE MINS OVER THIS CONFUSING PIECE OF CRAP LOSING MY MIND 455.00 AND I CANT EVEN GET ONE CHANNEL AFTER MESSING AROUND WITH THIS THING FOR THREE WEEKS NOW
ARRRGHH!

No real need for all capitals please, as its considered SHOUTING on a forum. THANKS!

sorry
what is a dual lnbf how is it used my stuff came with very limited instructions and i am an idiot about ready to fix it with a hammer
amc 2 is not on the list of sats in this box

the all caps was after getting kicked offline three times and then when i was almost done typing page changed and would not let me back in not your fault sorry for yelling at you my bad

Can I suggest that you find a qualified tech to install your equipment. If you know nothing about setting it up and the instruction are too confusing, then all you have is a pile of equipment that is useless to you. So spend a couple of more bucks and get someone to set it up for you. Watch what they do and you'll get a learning experience as well. It will make it easier if you want to make changes or upgrade down the road. ;)

I remember when I set up my first RCA DSS system in the mid 90's when they first came out. $500 for a single, basic receiver. Installation was about $200. I installed it myself - I was scared to death! But, it went in real well, and the joy I had when I turned it on an saw the preview channel - and it had a promo for Tales From The Crypt movie - WOW! Don't give up! I have since installed numerous Dish and Directv systems over the years. Although, I can understand the frustion, so I guess a guy has to know when to say enough and call in the pros - nothing wrong with that :)

Larry :)

hi again
ok here is what i have so far
on menu i find usals setup as follows:
longtitude angle 084.0
longtitude direction: west
latitude angle: 44.0
latitude direction: south
rotating speed: 0.30
are these correct ?
for the dish , it is pointed south, motor is set at 45 latitude, dish set at 38.5. are these
correct ?
next i enter installation and get antenna setting, then a installation screen this is where i get
confused. a lot of sats to chose from for instance, 45 AMC 9 (83w), lnb freq set on universal,
diseqc type set at none, my choices at bottom of screen are: edit satellite, antenna positioning,
mu ltiple satellites setup, start search, when i click start search i get a list 1-31,
#1 freq 00000, pol v, S.R 27500, FEC 3/4, TV 0, RADIO 0. all tv radio have 0.
options at bottom changed to add, delete, edit pid, and tp search. when i press tp search i get a
warning screen asking only fta search ? ok for no, then warning network search, ok for no. then
back to former screen. i click on on start search, my signal strength changes a few times while
searching the back to same screen with same info as before.
when i click ant. positioning i get screen that says motorized system. motor mode set at usals,
transponder at 12011/h/3979/auto
still nothing on quality meter press menu button and get warning no channel press ok and get new
screen, with choice at top of screen of, all channels, fta, and scramble. bottom of screen has
satellite, edit, find, and a-z. if i click on satellite, i get satellite list checked all
satellites. ok back to former screen. edit does nothing. find gets me a screen with a keypad and
bottom screen has ok, back, caps off, and extend. i am lost for sure now!
exit from those screens and back to warning no channel then menu
will someone please explain in detail where i went wrong and how i can get at least a few channels
to watch
captive works cw 600s
same story no matter which satellite i chose
thank you
