2013 AL Central

Since the tigers have had it all wrapped up for a while in my opinion I haven't felt quite the same draw to watch as I did the rest of the season. I have missed a few games in the last couple weeks including tonight.

For SHAME !!!

Could the NFL have anything to do with that ?

I'm afraid that and college football both have something to do with it. If we were in a tighter race I would be watching every night though.

I'm wanting the Tigers to wrap things up during the home stand so they can rest Miggy the final six games of the season. As for Phil Coke, as you know, he hasn't been on my Christmas card list the past few seasons...slightly behind Brad Penny on the list of pitchers I would least like to see take the mound in a Tigers uniform. Besides Valverde there has only been one other player booed this season - Phil Coke. I think it's a given that he won't be back next season, but will he be on the post-season roster? Seems like we'll place Porcello in the bullpen and we won't really need him serving up meatballs to the opposition. Thoughts?

I think he still makes the postseason roster just so they have other lefty options besides Smyly. Hopefully we don't have to use him that much though. I'm ok with him coming in to face a lefty or two if they are back to back. I just don't want them to ask him to pitch full innings including at bats against right handed batters anymore.

I agree with what your saying here, but I gotta think theres no way Coke isn't on the playoff roster, why, because he's left handed.
He'll be used as the specialist and if he gets that 1 guy out, great, get him out of there after that.

I agree with your take as well. :)

Tigers down 2-0 going into the bottom of the 5th. They need to figure out this Seattle pitcher.

Tigers have had ample opportunities to score tonight and haven't, they had the bases loaded in the 1st inning and couldn't and 2 on another inning with less than 2 out and couldn't.

Back to Peralta for a few minutes ...

I wonder when the Tigers decided to have Peralta move to LF ...
Was it something they thought about right after getting Iggy, or something that just came to them ?

Reason being, if they told him when he left or shortly there after, Peralta could have been working out at various parks on playing LF and how the ball comes off the bat for quite awhile now ... it doesn't have to be at a Major league ball park to learn how the ball plays.

I think the decision to move Peralta over to LF became obvious once they saw Iggy play SS...and realized he has an above average bat too. If I were Jhonny, I would embrace to the move and become the LF I could. We could use an average Left-Fielder with a strong throwing arm, above average bat w/a little pop. Otherwise, he becomes trade bait.
