HI i4tas, you scrapped the 10 foot paraclipse!! From what I have heard they were good dishes in there time. Was it damaged?
Tom

It was damaged. It is a good dish. The frame was repairable and it need all new mesh. most the bolts on it broke durring uninstall. I did cash in at 122 dollars!

Hey i4tas,
Sorry to hear it was damaged. With the frame and the mesh being bad, ya got to do what you have to do. Sometimes thats hard. Too bad thought! A $122 dollars will come in handy for you any how. Didn't want to sound like a back seat driver or arm chair quarterback too!
Take care,
Tom

:D
P.S. Too bad with all the interest that is around this site and I know that their are others that their can't be some kind of After Market Part place to rebuild old dishes that were collectors, just like after market car parts. Just me thinking and saying Why not!

I'm the VP of the HOA so I think they would be OK with it ;)

Must be nice. Our HOA is brand new so they are really GUNG HO about all the rules! They recently sent letters to all residents about people breaking the rules by having commercial vehicles parked in the driveways. That practice is prohibited! Strange they don't seem to mind the police officers driving thier city cars home!

I dare not even ask for permission about a big dish. They have tried to limit the placement of little dishes to a "...location that is not visible from any street or any other lot....". That has not been sucessful though. Pizza pan dishes are in all sorts of places visible from everywhere.

I think I will wait until my evergreens grow somewhat above my fence line. That will make my back yard even less visible from the street and other lots.

I'd tell 'em that black mesh dish is a Privacy Blind to keep your backyard moonshine still from being an eyesore and visible from street. :D
. . . and if ya lived here in California, that would be "pot lot" . . .
See how good their sense of humor is! - :up

Yeah that should work and they all can have their monthly meetings sipping on some swell recipe thats been a brewing! lol Or maybe you can paint the dish and pole the shade of the trees in your area so it won't stick out so fast?? First thing I would do is ask your neighbors on each side of you, and hopefully you get a long with them before, if they would oppose you. Hope that helps.
Tom

:D

That is why I would never buy property in an area with an HOA. True it may help to preserve the value, but I would not live anywhere that people tell me what I can and can't put in my yard. Especially forbidding me to have a BUD (I have two-LOL) I would be public enemy no.1!!.

I have an attractive home that is clean and well landscaped. I don't feel in any way that my big dishes are damning the decor.
I just turned down a good deal on a large home that was under HOA dictatorship. They even had rules on where the pizza dishes could go. Also no large over the air antennas.

Well sort of dish hunting. I was cleaning my basement and open up a storage tote and what did I find??? I found the fist receiver used on the old 11 foot ADM brand dish after the old LNA / downconverter thing was replaced with a "modern LNB" and a receiver. I do have the VideoCipher box also.

I have the remote for the Norsat. I wonder how a 60 degree LNB would work on a 7.5 foot dish here in the Northeast? How old do you think it is? I think it was used when it was installed back in 1988 - 1990?

Somewhere in the basement I have a huge actuator tube that was used on the ADM dish. I think it was a 36 or 48 inch. Since I am cleaning the basement I am sure I will be finding it.

my latest find

Hello everyone,
Here’s my latest find that I got from the ad on Craig’s list. I don’t know the make of it. There is a sticker that has been placed in a couple of places that I have noticed. It says: “Q?”. Is anybody familiar with a brand called that?

On the feedhorn I can make out to be “KTIK” sound familiar? I have to call the guy to arrange a time to pick it up.

Thanks,
Tom

Must be the time of year for these KTI dishes. I just picked up one today from a guy who had an ad on craigslist. Exact same as the one above.

not KTI

Well, if I had a brain, I'd watch for a nice little KTI . ;)

But, I'm on the lookout for a 6' Prodelin, and found one on a car dealer Monday.
Isn't looking promising, but I'll follow up on it.

Pictures below are another Prodelin 6' dish on a local Rite Aid drug store.
No clue what they use it for.
Will have to go ask.
This one has been bugging me ever since I realized what the heck it was.
And I'd recognize one at a quarter mile, now that I know what to look for.

Interesting wall mount.

I wonder how a 60 degree LNB would work on a 7.5 foot dish here in the Northeast?

I have some old LNBs from the 1980s and they still will work OK for analog. With a few sparklies in the reds. When I tested them all out a few years ago and they all caused tiling on the 4DTV digital channels. That was on a 10' dish in NY.

Here's one I have been driving by for years, but until I saw the "Fresh Eggs" sign in the yard could never work up the nerve to stop.

A couple of weeks ago I pulled in and spoke to a very nice elderly lady, her and her husband bought this dish new, she thought it was around 25 years ago, and thought it was made by Drake. I had a little trouble understanding all of what she said but I thought she said that the dish goes to a "resting postion" every night at a preset time, not sure? I stopped again today with my camera and took these pics, I didn't measure it but it's at least 10' and maybe bigger.

Anyway it definitely caught my eye, I've never seen anything like it but I'm sure some of you all have. I'll be stopping by there regularly, you can't beat those fresh farm eggs. :D

That's just what I was thinking Al!

The question is of course, Are you going to get the dish, now or sometime in the future? :)

I think it might be a some kind of commercial dish like I saw last year that was stationary. If it is aluminum, it might be a pretty good dish.

I'll look in the old dish hunting thread. :D

Edit: I couldn't find anything quite like it. Looks like a great dish though!

I never thought of 4DTV guide updates, that's one of (the many) things I have no experience with, I bet you're right.

She did say that it was installed by an old Curtis-Mathis television dealer from Springfield, don't know if it's a commercial dish but it's definitely aluminum.

And I did happen to mention, if they ever looked for a new home for it I'd care for it and feed it well. :D Hoping her husband is around next time and in the mood to chat about it.
