DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

Again, I called the number asking about the email about streaming AMC shows...still got the canned response "we are not offering free Rokus", despite my mentioning that a friend got the same email and got a free Roku. I got sent to an account specialist, still waiting.

I just received a one time $30 credit to help pay for the upcoming season of Breaking Bad. And I saw it was applied to my current bill this morning. I don't need another streaming device since I already have three plus a HTPC connected to one of my HD TV's. I really didn't want to take too much of an advantage of Dish because, we aren't planning on leaving. But I did make sure I got a little something just for the fact it's become quite apparent that Dish was going to drop AMC no matter what. I mean, why do they have all of these Roku boxes sitting in a warehouse? Especially since they specifically mentioned that AMC programming was so readily available through streaming sources? I also feel that a month-long freeview of Encore was done to help deflect attention.

I got 1/2 off all my movie subscriptions for 6 months and $10 credit for 12 months. Total savings for me $237 dollars. I have a home server and enough streaming devices that i didn't need a roku

"In order for me to send the Roku, do you have a debit or credit card?" What is that all about? Been on hold forever now after that question.

Just to verify that you can pay for Amazon services. I think they have a deal with Amazon on this.

Now I'm being sent to another rep to "complete my Roku order"...the lady just asked if I have a credit/debit card because I would need one to set up the Amazon or iTunes accounts. How thoughtful.

Edit: yes, what jadiff said.

So, here is my final result:

1st call last night: Got a poor-english-speaking rep who offered me 3 months free of BB@H...I declined, but he still put it on my account (probably due to language barrier)
Chat last night: couldn't wait long enough, gave up
2nd call this morning: long fight with the 1st rep, sent to an account specialist, short fight with her, finally got the Roku order after a lengthy (20+ minute) hold.

free Roku + BB@H for 3 months, not bad

the only thing that has me confused is that the 1st rep said that Breaking Bad and Walking Dead would be available via BB@H. I still doubt that.

Interesting that the Roku box is wifi only. If it's the Roku XD, it DOES have a wired connection:

Interesting as when I looked up info yesterday I swear it showed as wifi only and the rep I spoke with was insistent on the need for wifi. I could be mistaken.

I called the number in the email mentioned in this thread, asked for the Free Roku. Was transfered to the loyalty account specialist and she asked me if I had broadband internet and a credit card. I said obviously I had a credit card because I have 4 DISH accounts with auto pay and I had TWC road runner internet. She said she would ship the hd roku and gave me a $35.00 credit. I asked if I was eligible for any other credits and she said I was still getting the $10.00 off for 12 months I had gotten from earlier in the year , so no . I said thanks for the free roku and the credit and it should get here in 3 - 5 business days. Took less than 4 minutes from start to finish with no real waiting.

Lucky you, Mike...I basically did the same, asking for the free Roku, and I was told repeatedly that there is no such promotion, until I got sent to an account specialist, took me over 30 minutes from start to finish.

Well, maybe it's the Roku 2 XD, not the original Roku XD?

Well, the credit is not showing for me online yet (would it be listed under billing?) but I'll wait a day or two because the csr told me the Roku would be shipped overnight and should be there Tuesday. So, if a Roku shows up tomorrow I will trust that the credit will show up as well.
