JERICHO, N.Y., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- VOOM HD, LLC today announced that it is prepared to finance the continued expansion of the VOOM satellite service. Supported by the family interests of Charles and Thomas Dolan, VOOM HD, LLC has advised Cablevision that it continues to be interested in completing a transaction on the terms and conditions of the Letter of Intent into which the two companies entered several weeks ago. These include the purchase of assets and the assumption of liabilities related to the satellite service.

Said Tom Dolan, VOOM HD's CEO, "We are more than ever convinced of the viability of the VOOM service. We believe our offer to Cablevision is in the best interests of Cablevision's shareholders and VOOM's 46,000 subscribers across the nation. If we are able to complete negotiations with Cablevision, we are certain that VOOM HD will emerge as a robust new vendor providing a valuable alternative to the two services that now dominate the satellite industry."

VOOM is the first television service to provide a comprehensive array of high-definition (HD) programming for the rapidly growing but underserved HDTV audience. With a lineup of nearly 40 HD channels, VOOM delivers more HD programming than any other satellite or cable service provider. VOOM's HD lineup includes STARZ! HD, Encore HD, Showtime HD, Playboy Hot HD, ESPN HD, HBO HD and Cinemax HD, as well as an exclusive package of brand-new, commercial-free VOOM HD Originals such as WorldSport, Equator and Animania. The service also includes 87 of the most popular cable channels in standard- definition (SD), 23 digital music channels, and free over-the-air digital broadcast channels in HD, where available. VOOM is offered across the continental United States through local Sears retailers; at BrandsMart USA stores; and through O'Rourke Sales Company's independent electronics retailers with approximately 10,000 locations in all 50 states. Customers can also purchase the service by calling 1-800-GET-VOOM or by visiting http://www.voom.com.

Says voom has 46000 subs.
OH MAN I AM DIZZY NOW!

If VOOM isn't dead I would guess it is the programming and channels they are talking about. CVC will probably try and use the VOOM brand to sell it as a channel or channels to other providers like Comcast or DirecTV or Time Warner Cable. It will probably be like another HDNet or INHD type of situation.
CVC can still monetize this asset.

The signs of VOOM being shut down aren't ignored, it's just not done and this is not speculation. This is fact.

The problem with this press release is it doesn't specifically mention any names at cablevision or voom and they got the name of Voom wrong, since the original annoucement it has been called Voom HD LLC. Something just isn't right about this, if calblevision hasn't put it in their press release section.
Voom HD LLC is the new company that signed the letter of intent to buy Rainbow DBS from Cablevision. All of the facts in the press release are accurate.

The NAME in the press release is
Cablevision Systems Corporation

Voom Customer Service

I love it, I have a special circumstance, where i have a contract with voom to recieve 6 months of free service due to services that where performed for Voom. After reading that press release, i wanted to call Voom to see what was going to happen to the months of service that I will be unable to recieve after the service has shut down. According to them, they are not going to be bringing down the Voom service, and the proceeded to read a press release from february 10th, stating that a letter of intent was filed by charles dolan to aquire the assets yada yada ya ya we've all read it. So then i proceed to ask, ok what about the press release that was issued by Cablevision today, stating that an agreement between CVC and Voom HD LLC, was not reached, and that today was the deadline for the letter of intent. Obviously they had heard nothing from this press release. While on the phone one of the customer service reps mentioned, hold on, a new release is coming through right now, and it has the exact same wording as the press release on february 10th, stating that a letter of intent has been filed by charles dolan, etc etc. LOL

Can i please have another ride on the voom rollercoaster?

just for the hell ofit, i proceeded to ask about the channel rollout tomorrow, and was told that they were never given a release date. They are told sometime in march, but haven't been given the exact date. Ummm, how many customer service reps have said march 1st to me and everyone else? 100000000000000000000000

i realize that the customer services reps don't know sh*t, but i still must vent, how any company the size of cablevision can make these decisions, make press releases, without notifying the people who are taking the calls from customers is beyond me. I guess 26,000 is to small of a number to worry about. God for bid we actually get a company that looks at what it is actually doing to its customers, how few they are, instead of thinking in $$$. This is the problem with corporations. There's no humanity, only $$$

i'm still not leaving till i get something in the mail from voom, and my signal is no longer giving me a picture, since i'm only paying equipment rental costs, but f**k it pisses me off.

god i wish cablevision would update there page with this press release then i can call yet again, and when asked where i see this from, I can say "the f**king cablevision website"

Interesting, the time of that post is Monday February 28, 7:24 pm ET

That is latter than any other post I have seen

hey I have hope, why not, you have nothing to lose. No one else offers the HD content or quality today that Voom does

VOOM is far from dead. The subscriber bas is growing rapidly and there are more customers than VOOM can install. Why would any business man in his right mind walk away from this momentum that is building.

again, i'm not leaving until my services is cold and dead

but if i have to i would at least like to know before wrestlemania!
